Fix the economy?

I hear all this talk about "XYZ" will fix the economy...

IMO, the economy is fixed. The US is no longer able to borrow for our growth (can't be said about our govt) and savings rates are increasing and consumer debt is decreasing.

IMO, this IS the new economy. This IS the new status quo....

What do you guys think? Are you guys waiting for someone to "fix" the economy for you?

I'm waiting for the government to get out of the way so the pent up demand for our normal supply and demand capitalistic process that has made this country thrive can get back into action.
The past 4 years has brought this countries strengths to a grinding halt!

What "Way" are then in? Also, how did you determine what "normal" is? Last 10 years?

Living in a place where 60% of the homes are owned by rich folks, and 30% are rented to the people who work for the rich folks, with the other 10% being struggling middle class people, it is pretty easy to see where our economy is at.
Rich get richer, they hire illegals to do their work because it is the cheapest labor, which screws the rest of us. The amount of illegals here has tripled in the last year. (Based solely on my biased opinion and the number of low income housing projects that have gone up recently, and the number of them I see walking on the side of the road.)
Multi million dollar companies here pay barely above minimum wage to work customer service jobs at high end restaurants and lodges. I have had friends who had to leave town because they could not modestly support themselves on what jobs here pay. (And he wore a suit/tie to work every day, while his wife worked one of the above mentioned customer service jobs.)
5% (maybe that high) of the jobs pay any kind of medical benefits. My wife owns a hair and tanning salon that doesn't pay the bills 8 months out of the year, so we looked at closing it and finding her a job, but $9 an hour with no benefits removed that as an option.
This country is going nowhere fast, enjoy the ride!
Rant over.

Not to start a class warfare discussion (that's right you already did), I have one question for you... did you ever get a paycheck from a poor guy?
Instead of hating those more fortunate than you, find a way to share in their success through hard work. In most cases that’s how they got there.

In my humble opinion, I think that within the next 10 years we are going to have a crisis on our hands. At some point the world will refuse to fund our governments ridiculous behavior when that happens those working for the government will lose their jobs and everything that relies on the government for money will essentially shut down. This means soldiers, defense contractors, construction contractors, police, firemen, mail people, and many others will no longer have a job. Hopefully the gov't can come up with some sort of quick band-aid solution to prevent it from destroying this nation, but when it happens it will be painful for everyone. Infrastructure which is already pretty poor will get much worse for sure.

You say debt is decreasing, but who for? Surely your not talking about college students because all you hear about nowadays is how college costs are going up and how salaries are going down. There are not enough middle class jobs for all the people who want to live the middle class lifestyle. Every industry is getting more and more competitive with mind numbing high wages in the top 5 percentile while everyone else gets the scraps.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy for this college loan issue. I graduated from college in 1973 with a little over $9000. in college loans. My first job (high tech... big company) I made $5700. per year. I lived in a single wide trailer with a wife and one daughter and one on the way. It took YEARS to pay it off, but that was the deal I signed up for. I didn’t like the bill that never seemed to go away, but I agreed to take the money and I paid it back!

The car I drove was worn out and cost me $100.00. Today kids complain on sites like this on their $400.00 IPhone and daddy and mommy pays the monthly bill!

I guess my generation didn’t think it was going to be handed to them or that it was going to be easy.

Your response is so far from what I wrote, I thought you made a mistake at first. Read, COMPREHEND WHAT YOU READ, then post.
My post had no hate at all towards anyone less fortunate than me, just illegals and rich folks who hire them instead of hiring the people they should be hiring.

Not to start a generation hating thread (oh that's right, you just did), but have you ever gotten a paycheck from anyone younger than you?

dept is decreasing because banks arnt loaning to normal people and most everybody went bankrupt.

Really? I sell windows for a living and our business was great last year and up another 27% so far this year and 57% of which is financed thru unsecured lending. Our business can't do well unless our customers are doing well and our company has offices is Denver, Philly, and San Fran.

Congrats! It's nice to hear this kind of story.

I get checks from younger people all the time! The conservative young AMERICANS who still believe in GOD and COUNTRY! Not f**king handouts! And the rest of my income is generated by some VERY wealthy and BRILLIANT people.....none of whom are illegals. Poor people are not spending money...... wealthy people are.....

I suspect given your Snowest handle you are in the excavating biz. In that case If I’m correct, you may be getting paid for a service from some young people. What he and I were addressing was business owners (paychecks) even if that wasn’t spelled out. I’m not discounting what you said, because there are a lot of great young people doing great things, but the general theme of this post has been dominated (until you showed up... thanks!) with people bashing the rich and statements showing concerns for issues like student loans which is nothing new. What’ new is a an attitude among many youth today that feel that an education should be free or nearly free and they should start out with a 6 figure job. They feel that they are burdened too much... give me a break! Those youngsters have a lot to learn and IMHO it’s their parents fault for giving them most of everything they want, without having to work for it.
