first time mountain rider

so the day before we went I thought to call and go over the details and turned out you had to be 21 to rent a sled from the place so that canned my plans but dont worry getting my own sled and gunna get to the moutains sill. Wish me luck for the future and sled search, they keep selling on me haha
 
Get a bike and a mountain horse kit. Then you can ride it back home in the summer. :face-icon-small-win

Do you own a short track even or are you completely sledless? Cause you could go hardcore like these guys without a mountain sled:face-icon-small-win

I’m resurrecting this thread from the dead, since I’m heading down there this weekend. Know all the safety tips n have all the gear, and goin with experienced guys (finally lettin me tag along!!). I can man-handle my sled n boondock all day, and I shouldn’t have a problem climbing and going downhill on the slopes (to throttle the brake if needed and not to lock up the track), but my question is about getting turned around after a big climb, since I’ve never had to turn around while up on a steep hill, always played in meadows n on smaller hills, I just don’t want any surprises

I’m thinking keep on the throttle, lean into it n start side-hilling n countersteer itself sideways, and since the skis will already be pointing somewhat downhill after, lean a little less into the hill to set down the skis n use them to steer instead of the track, and it should start taking me down and straighten out, right? Or am I over thinking it? I just don’t want to get near the top n have my sled roll on me n watch it go all the way down<O:p</O:p

at this point you can let off the throttle JUST A LITTLE and it will also help set the skis down

No matter what, do not start turning and then let off the gas completely unless you dug the track down a mile deep.
