I ran that bike last year, and it never left me stranded.
But, I am in the east, riding 600-1600' and on the best days 2-3' of powder.
Stiffer fork springs are a must, .58 or stiffer. I went with .64 from riders edge.
Airbox- I did the backfire screen delete, ran the TS filter over the cage without the foam. Also covered vents on the side plates with frogskinz bulk. I didn't cut out bottom of airbox, but would rec doing that.
Carb- I ran one step richer on main and pilot, 178/48 I believe. Bike ran warm to hot -10 cel and warmer. When it was colder, I ran two steps richer. Ran all my carb hoses into a diy drilled out bottle.
Skid plate- not much available in the aftermarket, so I made my own from hdpe.
No thermostat. No lights.
I think the gearing is perfect on this bike. First is for loading and unloading. I would start from a stop in 2nd, and used 2nd and 3rd in tight trees, and 3-5th in open areas.
Maybe I got lucky with that bike, it was easy to install kit, although I had to shave one bushing down a bit. I've got a fi kxf now, and just starting to build it.
