This is going to probably really sound strange .......
1st sled in mid 70's as a teenager - 1976 Liquidfire (Dad bought for family)
Here it gets different, late teens I left home for college, got married (1st wife) and left the Midwest to move to Houston, TX for work. Not much sledding on the Gulf coast. That old sled stayed around home until parents joined me in the south for construction work.
Now fast forward 28 years. I take a job offer in Kemmerer, WY for a 1 year job. Came out here and fell in love with the country. My present wife and I went to Jackson our 1st year up here and decided to rent sleds out of Tog to give it a try.(Her being a Southern girl from Louisiana, she had ZERO idea what she was in for). She had a blast and I was hooked.
Got home from 3 straight days of riding different areas and started shopping for a sled. This was the 1st year of the new style Phazer and I got lucky and bought a brand new sled that had been hit by another sled square in the footwell. 1 new footwell and a few hours of metal work and sled was like new.
Next was a used 02 RMK 151 for the wife. (That was 2 years ago and to date she hasn't rode it) Meanwhile she finds a 98 Summit X 670 she likes. So almost overnite, we have 3 sleds.
I ride the Phazer to finish that 1st season and realize it's not going to be enough. It goes for sale on KSL. Guy out of Utah calls me and wants Phazer, but he wants to trade modded 03 Vertical Escape for it. I go look at sled, try it out, and love it.
Now we're set, sled for Mama, sled for me, and the backup Doo. 2nd ride out the 900 UBR in VE grenades. I spend the rest of the season on Mamas RMK and she rides Doo.
Meanwhile I find a used 800 UBR needing a rebuild, send it to Curt (FastTrax) and have me a new motor built. Got it installed and spent most of the past season getting bugs worked out of sled.
Sorry for being long winded. The last 3 years of good memories started replaying and I got carried away. My biggest regret in life is probably that I waited so long to come out here and learn to enjoy living again rather than running in the rat race of Houston .......
