First Ride On Turbo Nytro

i've actually got some rides in this season on snoboner's mcx nytro and dan bush's mcx nytro but yesterday was my first full day on my OWN turbo nytro and it was a blast.

its really nice to have confidence in hitting the bigger pulls when you know your sled is gonna get the job done.

i went with the boondocker 28 turbo and rode yesterday with it set at 12lbs.

i LOVE the prologger box we got from dustin at outlaw. hit the button and take off and the box records boost, a/f and rpm for 25 seconds. you can also add boost right from this box...cool!

the sled ran great except for the track began to ratchet on the bigger pulls under full boost. its a brand new camo challenger-x 2.25 but after tightening it several times, the ratcheting would go away for a while, then come back. i guess the track has to finish wearing in? i'm running avid drivers and have read on here to keep the track real tight.

one of our riders and the guy who built my sled, sean from shaver lake power center was on his nytro turbo (same setup as mine but with 15lbs) and he had a major problem yesterday that resulted in a crazy 5 hour tow-job home.

on a big pull, his sled came to an abrupt stop and sean was launched over the bars bad. when we got to him, his brand new track was split in half and jammed into the drivers. we think he was running it too loose and it got sucked up in front of the rails and then stabbed.

we also had 4 other sleds go down on the tow home and some old-timer following us around as we filmed keeled over on his sled and was out for 10 mintues. we were going to call a chopper to get him out but were way out of cell / radio range so we just shoved a jam sandwich and some gatoraid down him, flung him on a sled and got the hell out there. it wasn't a heart-attack but some kind of diabetic thing i think. he was okay by the time we got back to the truck.

anywhoo...after a crappy end of the day, i loved the sled...just need to fix the ratcheting and a low-end burble in the motor.

Sounds good Jeff. Gotta run the track tight or run anti stab kit. Suck the limiter strap and can run a little looser. Can't wait to run the MCX and Boondocker side by side. Low end burble is probably a hiccup from the factory programming that a lot of us are still trying to deal with. My MCX seems to be running stronger every trip out. Thinking of taking the Apex out of the trailer. Only thing left is to get the front end down on this wheely king

jlowe, are you running the numbers I gave you?
Where is the burble coming in at RPM wise?

i'm not sure...sean set the box up and i didn't ask him what map we were running on friday. he'll probably see this post or i can ask him. we both had it.

it was on the low end...like right when you would give it gas. once it got past the little burble it would run great but if you had to lay off the throttle on the pull, under boost, and then hammer it again, there was a small sputter and then off it went again.

i didn't really get a chance to tune as much as i wanted since our day turned into a total goat-fu*k...but my A/F ratio under boost was a little high on the tests i did get in and as i added a few numbers to the low-boost menu on the boondocker box, and i got the A/F into the 13 range, it was still there.

it sounds like common issue from what i've heard/read...do you not have this?

jeff

No, we do not have that. But it took some time to get it out. The only thing we have, is at about 6000 rpm, it still has a snap. Which I think is lean.....?

Not knowing for sure, I would mess with the Accelerator circuit. Try removing some sensitivity from it first, and see what that does.....?

Let me know if those were my numbers. I would like to know what AFR you were at 12lbs...

JSCC #'s

JSCC,
We started w/ your #'s and had to add some here and there on L and H boost. We set the fuel pressure @ 35lbs as dustin @ Outlaw suggested. I am switching to the new BD box this week (As soon as I can move without my ribs hurting to bad) and I will mess w/ the factory CO settings. It sounds like some of the sleds have it from the factory. The turbo just brings it out worse. Whats your opinion?? It is at about 4500 RPM if you roll into the throttle its not as bad as when you pin it. It does a little burp or hick up then hang on. Then when you let off to turn (Or bring your front end down) Then hammer it again it falls on its face like a lack of fuel or too much fuel. What do you all think?????

It sounds lean to me. My numbers are set with 42lb fuel pressure, so I would guess thats why you had to add to them.
Have you tried adding some fuel on the 5000rpm setting?

What is the "new" Bd box?

NEW BD Box

Got the new box today. The only settings it has is 3000, 5000 and PSI Low Mid Mid hi and Hi. I will see what this is about tomorrow. When I talk to them.
