First Ride on the 15 wide Extreme

If I were a little bit closer, i'd be there! My scooter runs purdy good;) Mr. Felker is gonna give the carbs a complete makeover tomorrow to see if we can clean up the jetting a pinch. That being said, the top end pulls like a fat kid eating taffy! I am so tickled with the 2.5 15 wide that it's not even funny. Put one on-you'll love the traction and handling. As far as the skid carrying more snow, it didn't. My riding buddies Nytro with a Poo Series 5.1 155-single center port- had just as much snow in the skid as mine did. Northern Utah, eh?

I'm just up the road from Denver, CO. Near Loveland. My Nytro buddy loves his new Poo track-he said it was much better than the stock Maverick. Did you happen to weigh your Poo track before you put it on?

What's the scoop with the Holz 860? Yours-RK-Split Seconds-Terra Alps, or is it straight Holz? I would have looked your direction if I had heard about the 860. BIG JOHN is a super good dude to deal with. I bought his clutch kit, secondary brace, billet adjuster, and a shockwave adjustable helix as well. A little tuning only takes about 1 minute. 8150 rpm has never been so easy to obtain:) These 3 sleds together would make for quite a test, eh? My SHR860-Camo extreme 15 wide-your Holz860-Poo 5.1 15 wide-and Madmax's RKT860 with a Power claw. What length claw you running Max?

trinity have you riden it with any xps with the pmax how does it compare you said you lost some float how much allways wonderd if the doos float so good because track or sled balance its cool to be able to compare 15 vs 16

I don't think I lost any "floation" at all. Here's the theory-at slow speeds in the trees with fresh pow, an UNPORTED track will sink less than a PORTED track. So what I meant by "losing flotation" was that I went to a 15 wide from a 16, thus leaving me with less track; until you consider my last statement. Cats always float very well. Guess what? No track porting. AC's surf and sidehill very well. Guess what? 15" track. I will not have a 16" wide track under another sled of mine. The handling difference is amazing. The XP chassis "came to life" with the 15 under it. Of course that's my opinion. If you like blazing everything it front of you at 30-40mph, it's the only way to go.:face-icon-small-hap

Maybe a little b/c of the 16 wide. I think powdermax is good track in some conditions. An extreme example would be the attack 20 was amazing in deep pow and only 15 wide.
Floating or the lack of trenching is due to many factors other than track width. So it really depends on snow conditions and the track you are using.

For my riding area the Poo track offers the best all around performance.

All HOLZ kit. Mark has a guy in CA doing the cylinder work for him. Working on a 890 kit for his 09 so will see how it compares. Also working on a 950 kit with race porting, race gas and twins. Might try that combo on my sled next year.:D

I'm a little concerned about the weight difference between the powerclaw and the challenger extreme. Is the extreme a single ply track? I'm in a pickle. I wunder what the stock 16" track weighs.

My stock 154 doo track was 51lbs. On the same scale my Extreme was 53lbs. The Extremes previous owner removed every other clip-it's unported. Pretty close to what you saw Stonehands. A pound or two depending on scale.

I'm gonna try to get the new 5.1 on a scale. Curious to see how much less the new single ply weighs. Also how well it holds up. I suspect it will hold up ok since I don't ride unless theres good snow.

I went with the 162 power claw. I had a 154, but have always had longer tracks. Hopefully will get it out in a couple days. I could be persuaded to get out to the snoweys in the next month or so.

It's my understanding the new single ply Poo 5.1 on the '09 D800 weighs 5 lbs less than the '08 version. I'm not sure if that's the 155 or 163, but the change in length would be insignificant. 5#'s of rotating mass=more horsepower.

Love my Poo 5.1 on my Nytro. DEFINITELY great advice from Xtreme Performance's own Donavon.
