We finally got some snow here, enough to go for a test run. First off, this is my first run on a sled since April 2008. Fall of 08 and winter/spring of 09 I was battling cancer. Chemo was so bad I could hardly get off the couch, let alone get on a sled. So to be on a sled again, even around a field for an hour, was a big milestone.
Anywho, after being laid up for a year, my body wasn't quite ready for that raw 800 power...holy smokes lol The thing just launches! I managed to get a couple of 1sec WOT...anything beyond that not good for breakin plus I didn't have good flat conditions.
I was going to do that break-in procedure but after talking to my dealer, and another dealer, none of them heard of it or did it, and haven't seen one come back. One dealer said ride it like I stole it. Plus I didn't have anything to cool the sliders anyway...my plan was to use a hose but my outdoor tap was frozen. So after a couple of hundred miles I'll check for piston scrub. I have a year warranty anyway.
Two slight problems....First, as mentioned in the oil pump thread, I put an o-ring on the two clips/levers (whatever you want to call it) as my pump sticks too. Second, I did notice a slight low-end bog when I started off on the slow side, but quickly went away when I started picking up abit of speed. The bog was non-existent it seemed when quickly accelerating from stop.
I did find steering a slight challenge, but like I said, first time on a sled since 08. I am sure I'll adapt and get use to it. I'm going to narrow the ski stance for starters and take it from there.
I also got a set of Cat scratchers for it today. A must-have.
Sick sick sick!! haha!
