i have 2 of the FNI intakes on 2 of the sleds...they can be dangerous if you are watching what your doing, a friend of mine dropped a nut when he had his hood opened and it went right into the intake/boost box and can be deadly.
i just cut a piece screen (same a screen door or pet screen mesh) and siliconed it on the intake where the gapping hole is...the mesh is not restrictive at all, and allows plently of air in, so yu can try that sreen door mesh just to protect objects...just dont get carried away and block air flow like MH stated.
if needed, i can take a pic when i get back home mid next week.
