Fire n Ice intake

OK guys I just received my Firenice intake. I currently have an SLP intake.

Looking at this Firenice intake, I can't see a way to make it work. Anyone got any ideas. Since the stock intake was removed/modified to install the SLP.

I ordered the offset kit from Firenice thinking it was a piece to connect the two. Apparently it is not.

Pictures of the connection from the throttle bodies to the new intake sure would help.

I guess I should mention it's a 06 900

In order to convert from the SLP intake, you will need a new "Boost Box" as the SLP required you to hack up your old one.

Part number 1202972 BOOST BOX ASM. $119.38

It is the piece with the foil heat-tape on it.....

%^%&& I just waisted $300.00. Anyone still need a Fire n Ice intake.

BTW thanks for the great pictures and response.

Two reasons I want to change 1. I ride a lot of deep powder and dont like the way snow builds up in the area of the intake. I'm sure it works fine but just don't like the location. 2. I want to install an aftermarket bumper and it looks like the SLP intake will be in the way.

Thanks for the eBay link, never thought of that.

I need one, but I would just get the boost box if I were you. If your bumper isn't broken it will be sooner or later. I am in the process of switching over from a Tri-city airbox to the fire N Ice because the tabs were the bumper screws onto the nose broke when a friend lifted on the bumper to get the sled unstuck.

I Just put the Skinz bumper on and I can put my rear stand under it and get the skis off the ground to work on them now, it is seriously strong.

You still running with a radiator Seth?:boink:

um, NO.... lol

That was the day I removed it (a few days after I bought it)... I took pictures in the event they would ever be useful (like now);) You may also notice the '05 spindles and stock bumper... both LONG gone:D

Good to hear you got a new Boost Box... the rest of the install is pretty straight-forward... just have to loosen the coil to install the hanger bracket and you will be golden.

Be sure to check the clearance from the airbox to the left 'nostril vent' on the hood... mine was rubbing on the new airbox and required a little bit of trimming with a utility knife.

Good luck:beer;

I changed over from the SLP Intake on the 05 900 to Fire N Ice this set up works great in Deep Pow was just up in Revy a few weeks back, powder was insane never had a bog once, I also run with the Fire N Ice headlight intake thumbs up on this combo.
X2 on trimming that Left vent side down a bit or it will rub, I also zap strapped around rubber boot as and extra precaution.

Just some advice, you should also run some slp prefilter over the intake mouth of the firn n ice. I don't know how you guys are not running any filter material, the way that snow finds its way under the hood. Not too mention you should see the belt dust that collects on the filter material, that you wouldn't see otherwise. Guess where it's going? Into your motor. Water, belt dust, snow, its like a funnel. The slp was good at sucking crap in, so will the fire n ice if you don't take this step.

You should not have to use prefilter material. The factory foam seal that is attached to the hood should compress and seal good enough to the top of the Fire and Ice air intake when you close your hood.

Just got putting my motor back together and when I took it apart I couldn't believe the amount of belt dust in my throttle boddies! That was with the stock air box & seal. I would reccomend the pre filter material. Cheap insurance!

Do you guys still have this factory foam seal?? Mine never when I bought it. Still a funnel just sitting there....

I used 2 foam seal stuck together to get a more positive seal, I just stuck one to the other using. I had a small gap when I closed my hood and didn't want to allow any under hood air in. The only air getting to airbox now comes from 2 side dash vents and 1 speedometer vent

Here is my take on this... after having FNI intakes in my last 3 900's

IMO...

Prefilter over the small opening of the FNI airbox is too restrictive.

Ensure that the headlight, adjuster, airbox plenum and gauge pod are well sealed to the hood.

I have talked with Outerwears in the past... they are the makers of the prefilter material... the surface area needs to be increased drastically when using filter mesh... even more important in high humidity situations... the opening on the FNI intake that mates with the hood was designed to be a free flow opening.

Make sure that the foam seal is in excellent condition and that you are sealed to the FNI intake with adequate compression of the foam... order a new one if it does not and was "dented" from previous use, missing or just worn out (they are cheap).

Use plenty of intakes in the console... I like the FNI Combo intake, the intake on the gauge pod next to the gauge and the one behind the windshield for proper flow should you be running in the rain or deep fine pow. The stock intakes foam/filters on the 900/755's do not flow anywhere near enough air in actual use.

The 900's draw a LOT Of air... if there is a restriction... you wont be making the power you could be.

I sealed around the headlight and guage pod assembly with silicone and it has seemed to help.
