FAILED first ride.

Well my 22 Matryk slash 165 na finally showed up on Friday, woohoo. This is not my first sled by a long shot so I was able to handle the long over due arrival of the ride. Unfortunately 15 miles into my very easy ride I needed reverse and it died out, after starting and trying 3 more times it finally wouldn't turn over anymore, my thought was junk battery. NOPE the rope wouldn't even come out, so I grabbed the clutch and she was tight. The sales manager actually stopped over my house to give his condolences and is taking it back to the shop today. After 10 years on a cat my first poo since the dreaded 09 - 800 cleanfire junk which that sled quit on my way home. So I'm zero for 2 on new Polaris's.

That stinks. Sorry you have had such bad luck. I ride Polaris as I have had 2 doos crap the engine and never a polaris. If I was in your shoes, I'd be riding another brand.

Man, really sorry to hear about this. Your history would leave a sour taste in anyones wallet.

Get lucky or you don't. Some doo's have went down. Friend of mine came out on a rope first trip on his 22 doo turbo. I think it was electrical but not sure. None are immune. I know polaris hasn't had a very good track record but I've always been lucky. I didn't get my boost until February 11th. If it would have went down first day i would have been livid. Good luck
They are awesome when they run

Local dealer I am friends with said they have had 4 N/A 850s burn up the PTO side piston this season on 2022 Matryx. Last one Polaris wanted motor fully torn down with lots of detailed pictures. Hopefully they get it figured out.

Hopefully not like an 01 AC MC I had first year 800 twin. I burned that one down within the first couple short rides. PTO/crank seal they said was the culprit but, I still had to jet that side way fatter to keep from leaning out.

That's pretty poor, makes me leery of ordering one for next year.

Thank you for your help. The rest of us who have realistic expectations and understand the definition of mechanical and electrical doesn’t equal: never break, might have a better chance of getting our sleds with less competition in these challenging times of supply chain issues.

I hate to say it, But I predicted what the future of this motor would be….. And like clock work it’s all unfolding exactly how I figured it would……. And how the cylinder finish, and the PTO-End design should allow.

Its strange to me, the 850 is such a great motor…. Much better in so many ways then all the 800 motors ever built 2008 thru till the end.

Yet the 850 is plagued with a few flaws that are so easy to fix, I posted the in December of the 2018

i pointed them out for all to see, and none of them were addressed in the following 3 years.

The changes Polaris made to get 40cc’s out the 850 motor in 2019 were absolutely brilliant to say the least.

Robbing crankshaft length out of the Mag end on moving it to the center of the crankshaft is so brilliant I cannot hardly explain it.

The Motor mounts are also brillant.

i say this next statement as simply a fact nothing more….. ( We do not need to reach for work Indy Specialty has plenty of work. )

Statement is - All production 850 motors should be removed from the chassis pulled down when they are New and the cylinder finish should be fixed, and the PTO-end of the crankshaft should be replaced with our New Custom Built 40mm PTO-End And Bearing upgrades.

if those steps are taken the 850 is as close to Bullet proof as any modern 850 built today.

I.E. - The 2022 Fuel pumps, and the 2022 Cooling system with the short tunnel is a whole other train wreck.

The 2023 Most likely will completely resigned cooling system ….. the short cooler is a engineering failure.

This spring riding season ( EVERY ) 2022 Polaris Mountain will over heat to level never seen before.

And if your not careful they will most likely VOID every warranty on very sled if Polaris wants to be a Dick about it.

Temps way past 200 degrees will common daily conversation….. and these big numbers will be a bad deal come warranty claim time.

why is this?
every matryx slash i have been around runs way cooler than any of the axys sleds in our group.
the axys sleds run the hottest by far.
i am very curious because I am literally ready to jump on a left over '22

In 2018 you said with the poor quality of the cylinder finish on these motors they would not last. I just turned 4300 kms of hard riding on my 2019 and it has been stellar, the best sled I have ever had. This motor pulls like new still, so I believe your past statements were wrong. How can some be good and some be bad if all are made poorly? I respect your opinion but your predictions did not mirror actual real world experience.

2500 mi on my 2020 @5psi and 8400 rpm. Checked leak down at start of year, 3 on one and maybe 2.5 on other…………I’m not gonna complain.
