factory air box

Hi guys looking for some info, can anyone tell me what the ski-doo 1200 xr factory air box will take for psi befor it blows?I'am@2000 feet will the boost change, if i go to 7500 feet less air or will it stay the same thanks for the in put.

the plastic is plenty sturdy

the glue not as much

clamp the seam together tight with something more than glue and it is a perfectly good airbox for boost applications

Hi have had a reply from a friend about riviting the seams on the factoy air box so i thought it was worth a try.Took about a hour and saved 800 or more dollars, pushing 10-11psi now and no boom yet so thank you brycter cheers!!!

That is awesome if the Doo box can do that. I know the Polaris box I have on my IQ can barely take NA intake pressures before separating.

the FPP airbox is 850 and it holds together

Plenty of rivets have been added at the seam and it works when the plastic is warm but is not failproof.

If the plastic is cool and a very sudden burst of boost enters the airbox it will fail and not at the seam.

If you have a plastic airbox keep the boost low if you want a reliable setup.

Thats good to know so far i put 500 miles on the sled after riviting the box and boosting 10-11 psi with no troubles so far time will tell but so far so good more beans for way more beer.I would recomend doing the rivit trick if it works great if not well @ least you tryed like i said 500 miles and so far so good for 4 dollars in rivits or 800 dollars for upgraded air box iam not saying it's the fix of all fixes but i do know it's holding so far!:loco:

Airbox 1200

We have bolted or riveted airboxes in the past and have got some to stay together at 10 psi all day long but some won't even boost past 8 psi.
