Ollie where are you getting your information? It is widely know that temperatures have risen. 2005 alone was the warmest on record, and the 8 warmest years have all occurred since 1998.

When it's politically driven it's usually bad for the average folk. I heard the other day that congress wanted to raise the cafe (?) standard on new auto's think that will raise or lower the cost of a new vehicle? a nice blow to an already failing industry (that's a whole other F'n subject though) The real kanundrum (sp?) here is what is the magic number.... 60 mpg, 100 mpg 200mpg does it ever end?. Agencies that have to come up with statistics to stay on the government payroll will say whatever it takes to keep funding, make no mistake about it every step this green movement takes will cost us more and more. You won't have to take my word for it and you won't have to look hard to see it, just like the Kioto treaty why do you think we didn't want to sign on ? would have cost manufacturers ton's o dough resulting in higher price to the consumer.

If you look at every single other industry, as technology and the performance of whatever the heck were talking about, improves, the prices stay the same.

A standard computer today costs the roughly the same as one 4 years ago if not cheaper, however the performance in unrivaled. Cell phones are a similar story. Hell even drilling for oil is becoming cheaper in some cases as the technology and process improves.

I really don't think there is a magic number for fuel efficiency. There shouldn't be one. It should continually improve as technology allows.

My new sierra half ton get's maybe 5% better fuel efficiency than my 8 year old one. NOt much progress there because we've been accustomed to cheap energy. Oil will eventually run out, maybe not in our lifetime, but it will. And as it does and if the demand grows as it is expected to in China and India prices will skyrocket.

'Global Warming' is total BS. The earth warms and cools with its natural cycles, largely influenced by atmospheric conditions, and variations in the intensity of solar radation reaching the Earth's surface.

Those facts about the warmest 8 years all occuring since 1998? Well yes, that may be true according to our 'records', but these records only go back about 150 years or less for most parts of North America. Some parts of the world there are sea level records from harbours that date back a whopping 500 years, but guess what on the geologic time scale that isn't even a drop in the ocean.

What IS happening is that we are extensively polluting the planet with non biodegradable man made synthetics, these synthetics cannot be broken down by natural processes and this is what is wreaking havoc on salmon populations and water quality world wide. Combine this with the deforestation of approx 40% of the planets forests in modern time and you have to admit we've done a pretty good job of 'trampling the garden'.

Some people (greens and extreme environmentalists) believe humans are not a natural part of the ecosystem and therefore all activities and consumption are illegitement. Others (moderates, regular fok) believe we are just like any other creature though we consume and pollute on a grander scale because of our large and growing population.

The greens have been using the 'threat of global warming' to advance their agenda both politically and socially (notice all the 'its cool to be green' advertising?) in pursuit of their ideals... which, much like communism are inherently flawed... in pursuit of these ideals they think nothing of wiping out personal rights and freedoms... the basis of individuality and what most of us over here in North America pride ourselves on...the freedom to be who we want to be and do what we want to do.

Its a sham. Its a group of people who thing the world should work their way.
Yes we need to preserve and manage our natural resources within reason, but I cannot stand to see these lies about global warming being forced on a vulnerable, unsuspecting public, who view things such as motorized recreation as 'evil' just because al gore and the green band wagon think they know whats best for us.

Not that it matters but for the record I have an honours degree and masters in environmental studies and spent 2 years in the Arctic working on a climate change research project examing impacts of rising sea levels on Arctic ecosystems. Results show that clearly the climate is changing from what we are familiar with in modern time, but don't prove jack **** beyond that.

Don't even get me started on Oil... I'm not losing sleep over running out (from natural causes) anytime soon.
