Explorers On Global Warming Expedition Stranded in North Pole by Cold Weather

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Three global warming researchers stranded in the North Pole by cold weather were holding out hope Wednesday as a fourth plane set off in an attempt deliver them supplies.

The flight took off during a break in bad weather after “brutal” conditions halted three previous attempts to reach the British explorers who said they were nearly out of food, the Agence France-Presse reported.

“We’re hungry, the cold is relentless, our sleeping bags are full of ice,” expedition leader Pen Hadow said in e-mailed statement. “Waiting is almost the worst part of an expedition as we’re in the lap of the weather gods.”

Hadow, Martin Hartley and Ann Daniels began an 85-day hike to the North Pole on February 28 to measure sea ice thickness, the AFP reported.

With bad weather hampering supply flights, the team is was down to half-rations, battling desperate sub-zero temperatures and unable to proceed, the AFP reported.

"It'll be a relief to get our new supplies," Hadow said in a statement Wednesday. "Until (the plane) does arrive, we need to conserve energy and can't really move on."

The expedition now expects to arrive at the North Pole in late May.

How ironic!!! Weather gods? I guess the man made thing has been given up on while freezing your butt off while trying to prove the earth is warming....priceless!!! Oh, and let's have a plane burning fossil fuel save our ignorant A$$'s!! I want to be at the party they have for surviving the cold.....:camera::wine::D

What were these guys thinking? North pole in March. I live in the central part of Alaska and it is cold as hell right now. One more thing if they can fly a plane in to drop supply's then why could they not land and take the measurment and leave why did they have to hike? morons

Yammadog- Good point, fossil fuel burning plane saves global warming freaks, nice.

This story reminds me of those granola-crunchers who a few years back went up north to apologize to the Polar bears for man-made global warming. They had to abandon their expedition of peace because of cold temperatures, snow, blizzards, etc. I think they made it a year or two later; what a bunch of idiots.

Too bad the Polar Bears didn't eat them. I suppose Polar Bears are meat eaters so why would they eat something that smells and probably tastes like tofu.

You guys do all realize that one of the side effects of the supposed "global warming" is that as the polar ice caps melt, it's causes a temporary drop in the oceans temperature, in return masquerading as a temporary "global cooling".

It also is supposedly responsible for sever weather patterns. Such as the one's we've experienced in Whistler this year and others seen throughout the earth.

I am in no way endorsing the theory of global warming, but when put into retrospective it is not unrealistic to think that we have had adverses effects on mother nature.

It might be a good idea to come up with other ideas to debunk this rather than one that is conducive to logical theories on the effects of it.

You do realize that if the ice cap melts and cools the ocean....we'll have an a$$ load of rain and snow....come on snow.

Also, when I went to school a hundred years ago...it seems..
I was taught the earth went through hundreds of hot/drought and cold/wet/ice periods during its existence.

I have no kids, and our country is going banckrupt and down in the dumps..come on global warming and serious snow. I'm getting to old to have the kinda crapy season we've had this year.

I'm selfish. I hope something changes so all of you with kids get a chance to experience America and SNOW...

Ice measuring do-hicky - $55
Arctic Sleeping Bag to keep out the snow and ice -$350
Enough food to last three people for 85 days - $500

The moment that you have to decide between dying and admitting to the rest of the world your an idiot......

PRICELESS!!!!!:D:D:D

or your buddy starts looking like a T-bone or (for those that are inclined) a "rump roast"

I'm not so sure very much planning went into this expedition. Why try to hike one of the coldest places in the world during the coldest time of the year? The fact is the planet is getting warmer. It has been since the last ice age. The scariest part is that we are way out-numbered by people like this. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Wyoming and have been involved in some way or another with the outdoors since I can remember. It's hard to believe that people who live in the most sheltered parts of the world and simply dedicate their weekends or a small portion of their lives to studying the environment have now become the experts. There is no doubt that we need to do our part to keep things as clean as possible and preserve the great things that have been given to us for our enjoyment, but we all need to be realistic. Al Gore is a person that has taken a few small facts and some data and completely twisted them around to support what he believes, or more importantly what makes him a lot of money. The weirdest part is that a lot of people bought into it. I think that most of the people who call themselves environmentalists are really nothing more than caged up animals in a concrete jungle living for the weekend when they can come into our world and enjoy what we've always known, only to return home and complain about how we're destroying things. I ride snowmobiles for the rush and excitement of it all, but most of all I ride to get away. To be free. I'm sick of people trying to take that away from me because their idea of what nature is, and what freedom is, is different than mine. It's scary to think that there are so many more of them than there are of people like me. Sadly, things are changing and we are losing rights and privileges and "freedoms" that were granted us by our fathers' fathers and those who fought for that freedom. Why is it that people who live in a completely different part of the world have so much say in how we manage the land we live in? After all, it is us who has to live in this land, and we're the ones whose livelihood depends on it. I think the biggest thing we can do to combat these things and defend what is ours is to get educated on what is really going on and voice your opinion. Complaining to the people who are in the same boat really does nothing to resolve the matter. Things for us in the snowmobiling community are not going to get better unless we take action. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and it sure seems like the "environmentalists" do a lot of squeaking...

If the environmentalist couldn’t create fear (too cold - ice age coming, too hot - global warming, sky is falling, etc) they wouldn’t get any sponsorship for their expeditions.

“Ice measuring do-hicky - $55

Enough food to last three people for 85 days - $500”

Paid for by the tax revenue generated by selling products (such as snowmobiles and fuel)!

I have an article pinned up in my garage from the Vancouver Sun last year. It shows three pictures of a glacier with the snow receding in each picture. They deem this to be conclusive evidence of global warming. The first picture is taken in January, the second in July, and the third in October before the snow falls. I’m no scientist, but I believe I’m also not a moron. I call that seasons, not global warming.

And the press continues to broadcast this biased crap!
