Saturday some real smart people decided to drive up over the bank of snow and up the trail nearly 5 miles. I seen lots of people try driving up the trail but never make it more then 1/4 mile.

For anyone familiar with the area they were stuck right by the rode that turn off and goes to the gravel pit. For those who just ride on occassion up there they were past the draw that everyone goes up instead of the trail.

I wanted to go back up today to see if they got it out because with 2+ feet coming tomorrow it will be there till spring if they didn't get it yesterday. T

These pictures were taken 4 p.m. on Sat. I followed there footsteps all the way down the trail to the parking lot where they must have hitch hiked back to Logan.

I had a Ford Explorer back in the 90's. They are AWSOME in the snow!!

It shows exactly how stupid they are if their boards are still on top!!!

i have been part of a rescue mission to recover a stuck

ford explorer from that same location. must be something about ford explorers and college kids trying to find a place they wont get caught doing what ever it is they dont want there family's to know about.

I'm sure they went back and found some other idiot to drive up there and try to pull them out. There is no way anyone else could make it that far though. I was shocked to see a vehicle that far up. I got a shot of the plate I could post so if you are in cache valley and see them you could tell them how smart they are. I really wanted to go back up yesterday and see if they were still there but I had all my kids so we just played at the sinks but there were lots of people in the parking lot. Some one has to be able to give us a report if it is still there. I'm pretty sure that they will have to get a snow cat to get them out.

The thing I can't believe is that if you were going to drive up a rode like that wouldn't you bring chains, a come along and some shovel. I guess they missed boy scouts the day that they taught the part about being prepaired. You could tell they walked around the explorer twice and decided to just start walking down.

About 5 years ago someone did a similar thing up the rode from Beaver Mountain on the sled trail. They got stuck, had to leave it there. I saw the truck later in the spring when the snow was starting to melt and the top 1' of the roof was sticking out. More than a few sleds had used it for a jump and the roof was caved in and the windows all broken.

Friend was up there when the owners went after it a few weeks later. They were pissed that people would have damaged it. My friend pointed out that they were not the sharpest knives in the drawer for having driven up there in the first place and for leaving it all winter.

Their out-- 7pm on saturday after alot of help- I know cuz it was my nephew and his wife. THey were just out looking for someplace to go snow shoeing, and didn't realize that the burm they went over was there to keep people from using the rode with autos.

Hopefully you were able to educate them on the fact the BUNCH GRASS area that they passed is closed to sledders for just their type of entertainment.

Let me first say I'm glad they made it out o.k. The way it was snowing when we came out I was worried. Their snowshoe tracks were easy to follow though so I knew they made it down to the road.

BUT how in the world could they drive past 20 trucks and trailers and drive over a 4 foot bank of snow and not know that they shouldn't drive up the rode.

With all the USU stickers on the explorer I would guess they have to be familiar with the area and know that it is a snowmobile trail. How could someone honestly be that stupid. Sorry to insult your nephew but come on use a little common sense. There is a lot of area to snowshoe in without driving up a snowmobile trail 5 miles. What did they pass going up the trail that far that they didn't think would work to snowshoe in? My compliments to the kid though because he must be a great driver most people only make it 10 feet past the bank of snow.

I think the solution is when they plow the parking lot they should plow 10 less feet so the snowmobiles can go around the pile instead of over it. That way there would be a 20 foot pile of snow instead of a 4 foot bank that people can get over in a 4x4

I have no idea- said he didn't think much about all the sleddin rigs he passed. Just thought he would go up the road and find a nice area to pull off and go hikin. first year snowshoein, but it sounds like he needs to get a different hobby! I haven't quit laughin about it since he told me sunday.

Anyone in Logan ever heard of a gate??

I think there migh be a gate... The snow would just cover it unless they plowed around it... For those that know the area there is very little room to park and plow.

I was thinking that there is a gate also, but it would be burried after the first good storm the way that they plow

I bet he doesn't try it again very soon. How did they get it out?
