Which exhaust do you have for you Apex? I'm looking at the two Excell's for mine, but I'm torn between the undertunnel and the above tunnel one, but I don't want it really loud.

I got under tunnel I don,t have choking problems with the 5 seasons I have had it. It's fairly reasonable noise level cause the snow muffles it.

I would suggest getting something that comes as a slip-on and a full system. That way if you decided to goto a full system down the road you'd only have to buy the header. ie Hindle

I had a RS-5 on mine but then decided to get a full system. I had to sell the RS-5 and buy a full system. It would have been much cheaper to have just bought a Hindle slip-on then just add the header.

Just my .02

I bought the AAEN header first for my nytro and then "patiently" waited for a used AAEN muffler to come up on the swap meet. Saved a lot of money.

I am not super interested in a full setup. I know that I will go with a turbo either midway through this year or next year. I just want something that sounds better and saves some weight. Those are my target goals for doing an exhaust system.

Thanks for the input.

If I were you I would just wait for a turbo and save your money. Not worth wasting it for just sound if all you would do is a slip on.

Used a SupperTrapp tune-able exhaust and been pretty happy with it so far.

Was supper quite for first couple rides but seem a bit noisy-er after packing settled. Could pop it open and pull one of the baffle plates but it's not loud enough to mess with.

Are those Timbersled drop brackets? Im installing the same intercoolers. How do you like them? does your track ever hit your exhaust?

I didn't have a camera with me to take a picture.
BUT...

the boys at OFT had a lovely new under tunnel prototype muffler with them today at the HayDays Booth.

Looked nice and sounded SWEET.

May have to be paired up with a set of excel <sp?> headers.

I told them to get one made up for me.!

While the SPG Super-Q works just fine, its a bit louder than I prefer, and this new prototype had a deeper throatier sound that wasn't so high pitched.

Should be a nice addition to Nytrocity.

Yes Timbersled drop brackets. MPI coolers work great. Pulled radiator out with my configuration, haven't had any heat problems so far. No clearance issue using Timbersled skid and this exhaust setup.

Im doing the same. Im a little confused on how the hoses run. Do you have a S/C?

Thats my muffler they had at their booth, I was waiting for feedback before producing more.......lets just say there was plenty of interest. I will be working with a local shop to try to keep costs as reasonable as possible, since the muffler is 100% 304 stainless and hand built it will be a challenge but should be able to make it work, also with OFT's tunnel plate its a match made in heaven. We use a company called Bristol Core for our packing material, since its a sealed non-serviceable muffler we want to ensure that it lasts a long time. I have been working on this for 2 years and have what I think is a nice well built product that sounds good and flows very well.

Any idea on price yet? Are you going to sell the kit together with the tunnel plate from OFT. You should probably be careful going in together on something with those guys:)

Since what they were showing me was a prototype they had no real price to offer me. But it probably won't come cheap.

The sound is very sweet though.
Nice and deep/throaty, not raspy.

Should be very pleasant to listen to all day long.

This is a first class set up that stopdropandroll came up with. I have it installed and will get a few pics posted. I have the Excell Vector header on mine, but an installation that uses a slightly modified Nytro header was tested and manufactured too. I think I'll be able to drop 10+ pounds out of my back pack with the Skinz seat/tunnel pack as well as carry an extra few gallons of fuel now.

TRUEBLUEMAX

My 2 cents is to go for the RS5 vs RS3 if you are going Yoshi. Its quite a bit smaller, easy to install, and has 2 sweet sounds: one loud and one not so when using the insert. I have the RS5 oval outlet muffler and midpipe off a CBR600RR (you use the midpipe to fabricate the "S" pipe you need to center the muffler.

I use the RS5 with the low volume insert installed in the muffler 90% of the time. Its easily installed/removed with an allen key and needle nose pliers.

IMHO, it is about the same "helmet loudness" as the Skinz Ultra Q (which I had before the yoshi), but I find the sound a bit easier on the ears....and for full disclosure I've used earplugs on my sleds for 20 years, but occasionally without and its still not bothersome.

Besides, anything is better than the 14lb stock boat anchor.....

Good luck,
OTM

Love my yoshi. Only issue is that I have a turbo which keeps the sound level down. Wish OFT had that exhaust and cover when I made mine. Would have love to have saved the time, energy, and effort on a custom exhaust and tunnel closure system.
