EVO blow off question???

Friday was my first ride out with the evo brv and cold air intake. I noticed that when I was climbing that if I let off the throttle a little I could hear it dump the boost but when I got back on the throttle it would continue to dump it and the sled would loose power. Its like the brv isn't closing like it should. If I let off the throttle all the way and then got back on it would eventually spool back up. Is this normal???

I think it has a brass piston instead of a aluminum piston!

I'll take a look when I get the sled back from the dealer. My chain case blew up on Friday. You would think that with me just buying it from the dealer that it would have already been updated but maybe not.

I installed my BRV two weeks ago and am having the exact same problem. Feel like I have less power now but primarily when hill climbing. I have to work the throttle to get the RPMs above 6500. On off on off throttle will result in the occasional peak at 8000rpms. More thoughts???

This is not normal.

Check routing of lines

You may want to double check & ensure there is no pinched lines in the BRV harness, and a good idea to check all clamps from turbo for a boost leak. Confirm routing to solonoid pack as well.

Same here

Not normal.

Do you have the update done to the BRV?

Mine has done this since I installed the BRV last year. I figured it was the BRV but I wasn't sure. I just back off the throttle and hit it again and its good. I have the natural aluminum BRV with the black hoses. I sent a PM to Gene but never heard back if mine would have the update? I guess its time to disassemble the BRV and check.

I get this a lot. The update is to change the plastic check valve located inline up by the throttle body hook ups. Other than the odd loose cap or stuck spring the valves themselves have never had a problem. Some were black, some were bare aluminum. That is just a supplier choice when purchased, they are the same. The update is to replace the plastic check valve with the new brass ones the BRV kits now come with. Some dealers if they have stock from last spring might still have kits with the plastic valve. All kits this fall have been the brass one. For anyone in Canada I will have more brass to send out upon my return next week if you are having issues.

Ok, so I asked the dealer who had my sled to check the brv to see if it had the plastic valve or the brass. They are the same dealer that I bought the brv from.
He said that he couldn't get the cap off, even after putting a rag around it using channel locks so he pulled the brv valve off and looked from the bottom. He said that it has an aluminum valve. Two questions, is the aluminum valve the updated one and whats the best way to get the cap off if its seized?

even weirder. Got the sled home little bit ago pulled the hood off and looked down the intake. Its hard to tell from the picture but there is white grease splattered all over the inside and down the elbow to the turbo. When I installed the brv I noticed the same grease on the cap and just wiped it off. Is the grease all over the intake indicate that brv isn't functioning correctly, and if it goes down into the turbo can it hurt it? Sorry for so many dumb questions. I tried calling Jim, voice mail said he was closed until the 13th.

I believe, but don't know for sure because I can't remember seeing it back when I did mine... but its not inside the valve! Its inline, on the line that goes to/around the throttle body. Go check EVO's web site in the instruction menu. It has a pic.

Now I feel stupid:face-icon-small-blu you've got to look in the right spot dummy.
sure enough I have the plastic one. you would have thought that the dealer would know where to look.:face-icon-small-ton

Yea, you just follow the boost hose off the top of the BRV back. It will "T" and one end goes to the solenoid above the fuse box, the other end goes back to the fuel regulator behind the secondary clutch. You'll find the valve in line back there by the regulator. jim is testing in island park this week. We won't be able to get any of the new valves until next week.
