Ethanol or lower Octane?

I can get ethanol free gas but 90 octane. My sleds call for 91. Would I be better off running 90 octane and ethanol free or 91 with ethanol? If I do run the E10, do you run any additives. Thanks for any advice.

What elevation are you running at? The higher the elevation, the lower the octane. Engines can't burn all the octane at elevation. I ride at 10-12k' and am running 87-88 octane just fine even though my sled calls for 91. Sure, I can fill it up with 91 for a warm, fuzzy feeling, but I'm just wasting my money.

Same here. I run 88 non-ethanol at 9k-12k here in Colorado. Works awesome. The lower the octane you can get away with the hotter you will run.

Farm, we run non-ethanol 90 all the time from 3-7k with zero issues. Most fuel you buy is within a tolerance of 1-2 pts anyways.

We are generally between 7000 to 10000 feet so it sounds like I will be getting some 90 octane. Thanks.
