Ethanol in the fuel?

I work at Costco and they have the cheapest gas anywhere you want to look. There gas states up to 10% ethanol in the fuel. With any gas that says that is it best to always use the ethanol chip in your sled. Has anybody ran that type of premium fuel and ran it with the standard fuel module? I would like to buy my sled gas at Costco, but I don't want any problems with my 011 Pro.

If any pump states that info then you NEED to use your ethanol chip otherwise you could burn down your sled from running it way lean.

A buddy of mine just told me that there are no ethanol added to premium gas only regular fuel. The 10% ethanol disclosure only applies to the regular gas, but the pump holds both fuels, hence the written disclosure on the pump. Has any body else heard that about premium fuel. I need to ask at Costco what the straight scoop is but I am a bit spooked about it now.

ASK somebody at each place you get fuel , they DO have ethanol in all grades of gas but not all stations use it cause it clogs their pump filters AND IN MONTANA at least they are NOT required to post it on the pumps!!!!!

Has anyone tried some of the Startron (sp)additive stuff (blue bottle) suppose to fix ethanol problems? i just bought some more for help with moisture in the tank. I looked in my tank and had couple tablespoon size puddle of water in mine after 4 tanks of fuel. pulled tank and dumped it.

Thats the problem ethanol is a sponge for water if theres enough together its heavier than gas and goes to the bottom of the tank, and the older the gas gets the worse the ethanol seperates after sitting, guess what happens when you start your sled ? thats right ,straight ethanol and water to your motor. hence burn down!!! BE CAREFULL WITH ETHANOL OR FUEL DRIERS

Not to be a DB but please search on this topic. There are several really good threads here in the Pro section with a ton of information. It just seems that we all have the same conversation over and over.

I run the non-ethanol plug here in Colorado even though we only have ethanol fuel. The elevation is high enough that the sled runs more rich than at lower elevations. You might not be high enough to take advantage of this. I would pay 50% more for fuel if I can have non-ethanol fuel.

Let's not forget that also when the ethanol/water mix precipitates out of the fuel, the fuel remaining is ethanol free! But only about 82 octane, since the ethanol is used to bring up the octane. Also not so healthy. So if you do find water in your ethanol fuel, get rid of the whole tank and start over.

Ethanol works fine as a fuel but you need to monitor water/moisture levels and run the proper resistor.

3 teaspoons of water will ruin a gallon of fuel. It takes even less at lower temperatures

Not to try and start a big political fight, but can someone tell me why the government mandates ethonal in fuels? From everything I've read, it's bad for engines...

Upcoming argumentative report.... Hmm would make a good topic :face-icon-small-coo

Sent from my iPhone when I should of been paying attention in class

Each state has to meet a certain credit number for the clean air act. So instead of investing in E-85 fuels or alternative fuels, they put up to 10% in all consumer fuels. Each state is different as to what they sell. Nor is it regulated by anybody. So you hope its only 10% ethanol in your fuel your buying.

I know this may be kind of off topic, but has anyone used, or had success with things such as a Mr. Funnel? Supposedly they are great at letting the fuel through the screens but not water. I have only seen one used a few times and it seemed to work, but I would some other feedback.

Well, I'm currently sitting in the Caribbean finishing out a 3 week stay in the D.R. I will load up 2 Pro's as soon as I get home. I have 4 days off still, before I have to go back to work at Costco in Red Deer, Alberta. I still have not rode either of my 011 Pro's that I bought from Tyler at Action Motorsports in I.D. Falls. I know where I ride in Revy and Sicamous there are finally yards upon yards of snow and I am excited to try out my sleds. I know now that the ethanol in our fuels is a concern to me and I must do my homework to find out where I need to by fuel in my home town and in B.C. where I do most of my riding. Thank you to all the people that posted here, it is something that should be addressed when I put any fuel in my sleds.
