What you just described is why I suggested checking the exh sensor resister that is part of your kit. It "fools" the computer into thinking the pipe is still hot so the computer doesn't add fuel to help the pipe heat up lol.
It could be loose. Cheap connectors that are loose to start, add some dielectric grease (eh TRS lol) and that COULD be your richness.
Something else, the SLP can brings a lot of heat (especially if it is crisp running) closer to this area (thermo mod area and QD belt) due to it's size. I noticed the heat after the first test ride so double wrapped the plastic thermo housing (now triple wrapped and next rebuild it will be quadruple wrapped lol, sorry the Olympics have me counting the spins lol).
It is plastic, it can warp, the sell lots for some reason, don't know if any of this is your problem, just throwing thoughts from a different direction at you.
