Electric start

My '11 Pro electric start works intermittently. No power to the gauges either when it acts up. It will pull start fine, then next time nothing. I tried cleaning the terminals. Anybody have this issue? Thanks

There is a relay that shuts off the 12 Battery current so that the battery doen't run down. I'd check that

Having the same issue with my GFs 2011 Pro.

No rhyme or reason when it will work or not work.

When it doesn't work..... Nothing. Like the key switch is bad or something. Check for loose connections, try to start nothing. Pull start, ride it for awhile and it will start fine.... Or not, like I said, no rhyme or reason.

This is exactly what mine is doing. Did you talk with your dealer? I think i'll take advantage of my 4 yr. warranty. :face-icon-small-win

No I didn't talk my dealer yet. I figure that I'll do the troubleshooting myself. It's difficult to get the dealer to discover a problem that is intermittent.
Perfect summertime troubleshooting project.

Next time it happens try tapping on the starter with a wrench or hammer. If that works, you may have a flat spot on the armature. If so, time for a new starter. Also check the cable from the negative side of the battery to ground.:light:

Mine did the same thing about 200 miles in. Pull starts fine, battery voltage was down to around 2 volts. Dealer gave me new battery, but not wanting to miss any riding (lazy) during the season, I never installed it. Big voltage draw somewhere? Pull starts so easy I really didn't care after that point but better get it looked at..
