edge or bully dog

Has anybody had experience with the edge juice and bully dog pmt for cummins? i was wondering witch one is better. mines an 06 if that makes difference, i also have banks inner cooler and, different intake with 4 inch exhaust, 35 inch tires.

I'm new to all the diesel truck stuff

Bully Dog for sure!! I've heard lots of horror stories from edge owners. Either way, when towing something heavy, leave on a low setting for safety. Wouldn't hurt to install some guages ( pyromoeter, boost, tranny temp) to keep an eye on things too.

Both the bully dog and the edge have outlooks on them I think I know the bully dog pmt does it is a little more expensive then the edge I'm just wonder if bully dog or edge has better programs for mpg and power I guess is what I'm getting at.

funny how you get recommendations but no one knows what year the truck even is.lol your best fuel mileage will come from a box that does duration and timing.edge ez,mileage max etc.

I have the edge in mine. But i have an 01 powerstroke. not sure which one is better for the cummins. i liked the edge for what i was gonna use my truck for. I would definitely put in some gauges, and if you are going to be doing any pulling i would put an exhaust to keep your egt's down and to give you a little extra power. just my 2 cents

don't know how it differs from the pmt but my friend has the tripledog with the outlook monitor on his 06 megacab. it runs pretty good, but i dont know if i'd waste money with the monitors that just plug in to the obd port like the outlook. he ended up putting actuall mechanical gauges on it and some of the readings were off on the outlook, i dont remember exactly what ones, but i guess the computer in the truck basically showed you what it was supposed to be instead of actuall readings. now, this is just what he told me so i dont know if its an actual issue or what so take it FWIW. i do know that the boost was off on the outlook though.

anywho, isn't the Smarty supposed to be the best for these year cummins?

Don't know about the Boost pressures and such on the outlook monitor but the pyro is installed in the exhaust either pre or post turbo. Or both if you want. So it is hard ran not to the diagnostic plug.

I am sure the others do this but the thing I really like about my outlook monitor is it will start to cut back if the EGT's get to a max set point. It is really easy to hit the limit when you aren't paying attention to it. So it will cut back to save the motor. The standard analog Gauge requires you to watch it all the time. I can tell you on a slick road in the dead of winter with a slight uphill and low RPMs you could burn it down. I would rather watch the road not the Gauge.

Neither. Smarty by Mads Electronics, and some good gauges like MSD dashawk or good old sweep gauges. You can also stack smarty with a fuel only controller like tst mp8 or the like. BTW, I have a bully dog power pup for sale that will work on your truck:D

PS, you are better to not run the edge with smarty as the edge adds timing and smarty add timing or smarty can be run without timing but smarty's software is way better than edge so if you run the edge and then are just using smarty as fuel only you are not getting the full advantage of smarty. get a fuel only like the tst if you want to stack. Also, better have an aftermarket clutch or beefed up 48RE if you wanna run smarty above level 3 :D (it goes to nine :D ) I have had edge, bully dog, and ppe in my various dodges. I have smarty now, wouldn't go back!!!

Absolutely stay away from the Edge programming on the 06-07 5.9's. But that being said, I have one I will sell you.......

Between those two, the Bully Dog wins hands down. Ran them both personally on the same truck. Ended up with something a little "Smarter", but the Bully Dog is hand's down better on that year truck. Garon****inteed!

Edge juice with Attitude for sale.......cheap:devil:

Piss poor mileage, egt's out the roof pulling, minimal torque increase, did I mention EGT's out the roof?

in 06 there were alot of electronic changes and programming to the 5.9, the edge didnt work near as well as previous years. Way more tempermental.

It looks like if I want the outlook bully dog hands down is the way to go. but if i put gauges in smarty is the way to go. can a smart be stacked with a bully dog or will bully dog do everything the smarty will do?

definatly go with the smarty pod its adjustable on the fly from zero to 99. then a set of dipricol gauges that match dodge gauges to the tee or and edge insight or the new bullydog gauges. read any cummins forumn and the smarty and a dr perfornace r the nor
