Economic Stimulus Checks/Anyone Got One?

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
It is a stimulus check, so they are paying the lower end to get them to spend some money to stimulate the economy. Those that are making good money right now have not really slowed down their spending. Those that are on the lower end of the income range (less than $120,000 a year) will get full rebate checks.

I don't see why you are so bitter over the lower income (anyone less than $120k) getting these checks. They are the ones that are actually going to spend it. Statistically those that have more money are going to save the money which will NOT stimulate the economy.

The entire idea is going to EFFF us for the next 15+ years. This is money we (as a country) do not have and it will take us a long as$ time to pay it back.

When did $120k/year become low income?

Wrong with a capital "R"!

Where does this funding come from?
Largely future income tax.
Guess what, those getting the most $ (because of their inability to prevent procreation)
will end up paying the least amount back (because of their inability to prevent procreation)

Why do we as a society continue to reward those who are irresponsible enough
to have kids they cannot afford to raise?

Like they taught us in jr high...."If you can't afford it, abort it"

You are mixing two totally different ideas up.
THIS CHECK: is a stimulus check, EVERYONE that makes less than $120k will get this check. If you have children you will get additional money, it doesn't matter if you make $20k a year or $100k a year. Are those people who make $100k a year unable to prevent procreation as well?

This is NOT welfare. This is a stimulus plan (did I already say that?).

Yes, those that make more money will pay more in taxes, and they should. When you figure how much money they give to taxes as a % of their income they do not pay more in taxes, most pay less. Tax laws favor the upper class.

I like it!
these are the people that we basically take care of, so it is fair the give them the money back.

I for one own my own business and have two kids .I make less than 120k. Are you saying I should not get this money! I hope not or I going to freak out ! people like myself pay ( small business owners) pay taxes like most people could not even imagine . I am every bit as entitled to this money as anyone else who work for theer living regaurdless of of the total amount!

Sure is structured like welfare.

Sure is structured like welfare.

If you didn't make ANY money last year, if you didn't file a tax return last year, you don't get a check.

I don't see any similarities with the stimulus plan and welfare. Care to point them out?

Roughly 130 million households will get the stimulus checks. While I think the entire idea of the government putting themselves in even more debt right now is a dumb, they will help out a lot of people right now. These are not ALL people that just produce kids and don't work. The majority are people that work like you and me, and contribute to society. So what is the problem? Yes, some people will get checks that are a burden on the system but there is no way to prevent that, there will be abuse of any system and you shouldn't kill the system because a small % chose to abuse it. That would be like saying, we should get rid of guns because some people use them to commit crime.

Im buying a sled from another forum member :)

So, if we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China .
If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer it will go to India .
If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala .
If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan .
If we purchase useless trinkets, it will go to Taiwan .
And none of it will help the American economy!
We need to keep that money here in America . The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only U. S. owned and operated businesses still in operation.

So when I get my check.............i'm going yard saling!

:) 2fun

Well I'll be dipped in ____!!! I actually got a $1200.00 deposit in the ol' checking account today. I thought I would'nt get one because my weiner was too short, or my feet were too big, or who knows what excuse they would use. Thats $1200.00 towards the 09. I'm sure it will count as income come tax time, but I'm happy.
