Ecoboost Max Tow 4x4 Real World Mileage

I just bought a '12 ecoboost a couple weeks ago. 145"wb, 3.55 gears

I love the truck, put about 2400 miles on it so far, including a 1600 mile trip.

I was heading west from green bay to Pierre SD so I spent a lot of time in different speed zones. Here's what the truck measured:

62 mph: 22.1 mpg
67 mph: 19.0 mpg
72 mph: 17.5 mpg
78 mph: 16.9 mpg
82 mph: 14.4 mpg

The mileage is fine, but it's the power that really stands out with this truck...

I should comment, I did have it shutter on me on the way home on the trip. It was 35 degrees, drizzling. I was in 6th gear, 62 mph @ 1700 rpm. Started climbing a good hill, as boost came on, it started shuttering pretty severely. Before I could react it quit shuttering. It never happened again... SO, i am going to talk to the dealer about this, and see what we need to do...

I'm taking it from Green Bay to West Yellowstone next week pulling a trailer, I'll let you guys know how it does...

So we're out in West Yellowstone now. I pulled a 12 foot trailer with two sleds on it, and a third in the bed. 3 guys and all the gear. Typically pulled about 5 mph above the speed limit. I averaged 11.8 mpg.

Once we hit hwy 191 we were running slower, i was above 16 mpg.

We pulled the same load with a 2008 F150 last year with a 5.4 in it, and averaged about the same fuel mileage, but the ecoboost felt like a diesel compared to that 5.4. Rarely unlocked the torque converter, hardly ever down shifted for hills... It was a much easier drive!
