Dynotech/SLP for high altitude PCV

IS anyone running the PCV at 8000 ft and above, and how is it workin? Who would be better suited to set one up for these elevations slp or dynotech?

slp PC5

Which slp map do they suggest that you run? We had an Slp box with a 70-205 map was told it was for a stock 2010 d8 with a 13-1 slp head (told this by dealer that the box and head was bought through) need to check with slp. Ran sled from 6000-8000 feet and would not out run a bone stock 09 d8 both where 155's. we tried all kinds of clutching on the 2010 and did not see any gains over the 09.

slp

slp's map they said was for 3000' and up my 08 has the updates slp pipe set and intake and that is the same map # I got 70-205 and mine runs better than without it at 8000 plus

Power commander or boondockers ?????????????

I am looking at doing a powercomander on my 08 d7 i have been told it is better then a pipe but i am nervous due to the fact that i am not a very experianced tuner so i am looking for a plug and play set up what do you guys think and if you could attach links or web sits i would appreciate it

my vote is dyno tech at this point... I hope SLP catches up soon

Since SLP tunes at altitude, I would lean more towards their PC V/III version of maps. Last year's SLP map was pretty simple, this year the dude has made a pretty sophisticated map and appears to be a better overall map than the one guy out east with a lot of time on his hands. My first experience with this year's SLP map has been positive at low elevation. I guess a guy would try both to see which one his 800 likes better since there seems to be considerable inconsistency between individual sleds.

My 700's like less fuel at WOT. Any map with 5 to 7% less fuel at 80%-100% throttle at 7800 to 8300 rpms will help out most 700s. In essence, the jetting kit costs more initially but the benefits are worth it.

This is from SLP
1-6-10 P.N. 70-216 APPROVED FOR ALL ELEVATIONS
It is recommended to activate the accelerator pump feature for 0-3000 ft operation. Trigger- 5.0, Duration-50, Fuel- 10. De-activate it for altitudes above 3000 ft. This map is for SLP Stage 1, 2 or 3 only

Thanks this answers my question then as to why it did not work any better than a stocker no if he did their pipe and intake mods it may.

DYNOTECH Jim developed several maps for the 2008 D7 based on his dynotesting with the Stock pipe and SLP pipe on a 2008 D7 JANUARY 1, 2008

Jim has the correct mapping and can pre-load it onto the PC-3 if you ask him to.

I have a PC-3 with Jim's map on my 2007 D7

plug and play for the last 1200+ miles

I have the pcIII and ran the stock set, the first map P.N. 70-205 and am know running the latest map P.N. 70-217 and it seems to be working fine. My sled is running pretty strong. Very close to my buddies XP with the 880 bikeman. I have a few mods but not like his. Just pipe, airbox, and slp head.

I talked with SLP and they said that the new map 70-217 is a more refined version of the previous one and that is the correct map to run even at altitude. I ride primary above 10,000.

Also, with the slp map there are 4 fuel tables and dynotech has only 1. I couldn't tell you though if that matters though. Slp gave me the following info when I asked about the 4 tables.
Tables:
1- pto up
2- mag up
3- pto low
4- mag low

I run the PCV from DynoTechResearch and it rips! This is the more conservative map and I look forward to running the leaner map to see how it does.

I don't have anything against SLP and I think they do some good stuff. But when I called them on advice for a helix this week they told me that they only do testing on their mods. I subscribe to Jim's stuff because of the amount of testing he does that has nothing to do with any parts he is selling. Seems pretty unbiased to me.

:beer;Agreed, Jim is a class act and the $25/year subscription fee is some of the best money I have ever spent. Loads of information, downloadable maps and great advice.:beer;:):beer;
