so i go this 07 dragon 700 155 for my wife. and i weighed it yesterday, and its a good 50 lbs heavier than my m8. what are some good ways to drop some weight from this guy? id like to make it easier for my 120 lb wife to manuever.

I put a lightweight hood on my 07. Best bang for the buck if all your looking to do is shave weight.

I think the 09+ and newer rear skids were a bit lighter. Hood, shocks, powder coating to shed snow.

I'm pretty sure the 07 dragons did

No front radiator in the nose area like the '05-'06 900's and 755's. There is an empty cavity up there under the aluminum cover. However there is a front cooler in the front of the tunnel. You could remove that and loose a little coolant weight, but I like the additional cooling gained by the front cooler.

Are you sure it's an 07 Dragon and not an 06 700? Just asking because the 06 would've had a radiator and would definitely be heavy. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything so please don't take me the wrong way. If it is an 06 it would have a radiator and yes it would help to remove it. Plus the SLP can took like 20 lbs off of that sled! But if it is an 07 it shouldn't have a radiator unless someone added one.

Not attempting to offend, but she might gain a lot by taking a course like one Amber Holt puts on. She teaches a lot of technique that minimizes the "muscles" required to ride. I'm not saying a lighter sled wouldn't help, but technique can go a long way.

The '07 D7 was the first year of the RAW chassis, there isn't much you can do for "cheap" to loose weight. It isn't a big tug boat to begin with so I would recommend you spend your efforts on making it comfortable for her. Riser height, bar width, suspension, Better Boards, bags, Muff Pot (warm lunch), f-bomb track mod, etc. You are starting with a great sled, so it won't take much.

Honestly, I wouldn't spend a ton of time dropping weight from this sled. Ride it, enjoy it. When you're ready to lose weight. Buy a pro. Seriously. I'm still on an IQ and you can spend thousands on it to lose weight and you might get it down to where the Pro is.
