Drop-leg holsters?

Was looking at getting a drop-leg holster for my Para 1911, anyone have an opinion on these?

I'm going to carry it hiking and fishing, and I usually have a backpack on, so I don't really like my waist holster because of the waist strap on the pack.

The only thing I'm a little iffy in is I'm worried it's going to make my pant leg ride up, and it might flop around a bit too much, but anyone have any actual experience with them? Any other holsters I should look at? Already have a Bianchi accumold waist holster that I love for everything but the pack issues. Thanks!

I have a couple of old Dana Design packs that I use, my standard belt holsters fit on the waist belt. I just switch the holster over if I ditch the pack.

I dunno if I'd want to widen my profile any more than it already is, I'd concider a cross chest holster of some sort

this is one i kinda made up for that exact purpose when repelling and snowshoeing and of course riding sleds. maybe wouldn't work with a full size frame but works great for small glocks and my colt 380. keeps weapon mounted across your chest just below your upper shoulder strap and has a pocket for a gps and a radio as well as a few more small items :beer;

how do you like your para? Is it a double stack?

Yeah I love that pistol! It's an older double stack P-16 .40 Limited with all the match grade equipment. SUPER accurate, I have only seen it jam once and it was basically my fault, was told the double stacks are uncomfortable, but after shooting it, I feel the singles are too slim. I have three 16 rnd mags and one 18 rnd for it. The only issue is buying mags, the cheapest I've found is about $50, but I figure packing three mags like I normally do will give me enough ammunition to fight myself out of anything short of a small war! Haha.

I also have one of these for it, and that doubles the fun!

Anyways, I jumped the gun and walked into a local shop today and bought a BlackHawk! one, I love the quality and the fit on the leg portion of it, but I cannot get the pistol to sit even half-way descent in the holster! Way too big! Bad enough that I think the only way I could make it work is to slip my Bianchi INSIDE of the other holster, the biggest issue with that is it makes it a pretty wide, probably too wide.

Any other holsters I should be looking at? Wasn't planning on spending more than a hundo, but a holster is some place I don't mind spending money, soo... lay it on me!
