Driving to Alpine

We are headed to Alpine for a three day riding clinic at Next Level Riding Clinic on December 27th. Coming from South Dakota is it better to come in from the north over Togwotee Pass or come up from the south via I-80? I have driven to Togwotee years ago and know the last hour up the hill is pretty slow going. Is access from the south any better if the weather is bad?

actually most of us here in gillette, wy go to casper then to lander over south pass in to pinedale then into alpine.. my opinion that is way faster then going through togwatee pass and jackson have done both and going south is faster

I've never driven Togwotee pass in the winter, but I would say coming in from the south would be better conditions as long as you didn't have to drive the stretch of I80 between Cheyenne and Rawlins. I personally would just play it by ear cause going through tog is probably a lot quicker. http://wyoroad.info/ here is road conditions, it is usually very accurate.

That is definitely your best route as long as south pass isn't closed.
