Driveshaft thoughts..

BR..I just went thru this with my 11..2 full seasons on it, never ben back to the dealer..ran flawless.gas and go as you can get, last ride, last spring, with my son on a spring bear hunt, end of the day headed back to the cabin, running about 30 breaking trail down the ledge on a valley floor...all of a sudden i have flames engulf the sled...slide to a stop, jump off, whole right side is engulfed. ...start shoveling snow on the hood, reach in and rip the side panel off, keep shoveling snow in..finally get it out, pick up the peices..drag the sled the last few miles to the cabin...start looking at the damage..end up pulling all the melted wires apart, using a strap around the clutch and get the thing to fire up(couple hrs involved in this)..sled runs, idles ok..moves..so next morning..we pack up and head for the truck(this is 50 miles of rough country).sled runs crappier and crappier..but we make it out..take to the dealer..turns out it stuck an ijector..filled the motor and the exhaust with fuel...polaris warrantied the injectors, complete engine, and some electrical..said the rest wasnt covered, even though a covered part resulted in the damage...so I filed a consumer complaint with our AG...8 months later..polaris and the dealer are fixing all the damage..(7 grand total in parts, last I heard)...it pissed me off bad enough to make me walk away from the 2-13 pro 163's I ordered, and as soon as the dealer hands me the 11 it is going up for sale as well.......I am glad poo finally stepped up..but I as a consumer..riding a completely stock drivetrain(yes I do reinforce my tunnel), who bought a sled with a in writing 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty should not have to get a lawyer to get warranty repairs done for a covered failed part......so yes, I do have first hand experience on what can go wrong with your poo warranty...........

That explains your bad attitude against polaris warranty... What did you buy to replace your 11 pro?

Yet here I am telling everyone..before you buy this, install that or do this....check with your dealer...doesnt matter to me if you void your warranty..just get the facts straight from the horses mouth before you do..dont assume that its not a biggie or going to lead to repercussions..check with your dealer....I could make the same argument some others have about why would the dealer or Poo care if I put this on my driveshaft by saying would you agree polaris and the dealer shouldnt have an issue with my warranty if I put a mnt. tek(or who evers) topend kit on it and then took it in for motor work..they should warranty it..I did something that i think makes it a better motr reliable sled..but honestly, I think we all agree both POO and my dealer would tell me to go fly a kite..and rightly so...I changed what they sold me without prior approval..makeing them no longer responsible....I dont like the way poo does their warranty...I think many of us take it in the shorts on things..but they are this way because of chit that got snuck by them in the past..do we have anyone to blame for that but ourselves?

I completely agree with you. The dealer is often the middle man and your advocate in a warranty dispute. Don’t make it any harder for them than it has to be. Customers who act in good faith have a much better chance with the warranty department if they have their dealer on their side.

actually..it is an owners only way to contact polaris..they do not talk to the consumer, they refer all customers directly to their dealer.........they want the dealer to handle it..

I agree 100% Oregon sledder....... I find it odd that I havent heard from one person who talked to his dealer about this yet...you would think everyone would...heck if polaris heard from that many peeps..there is a good chance they would do a goodwill fix....

I am going to talk to the boss man tomorrow and see if they will let me sell the shafts at cost or 10% over to those who want them..I know it wont help everyone out there due to freight cost..but those here close that are that concerned about it could get one........

Ouch, at $250 I would buy one and swap to save the potential headache, down time etc..

personally, I think the 13 shaft will work(yes I know, some have failed), I think this is more of a quality control issue that allowed some out the door that wernt right...time will tell on that, in the meantime..owners who for whatever reason cant trust the 13 shaft have a real option to go talk to their dealer and see if they can install the 11-12 shaft and not mess up their warranty......

I have a 13 pro also sitting in garage with only .2 miles on it and im am real concerned about this drive shaft thing im reading about. Dealer burn my drive belt out befor i even took delivery on a fork lift. Had to replace plasics and belt. Im calling monday on shaft thing. I bought a new sled to not have problems not get more problems
