Me too.

Ski, me too. Several chips on in the PC. Also everything is dusty/dirty. At least it's finally here. Plan on installing it Thurs or Friday. Want to talk to TCP first and see what's up with the chips.
I'm still wanting to run a belly pan/skid pan, something. Now that I have the bumper I'll take a look and see what's possible.
Seems like I have everything I need to do the work except the Diet Dr. Pepper! I'm working on that. B:beer;

They are having a sale on that at albertsons.

Went out last saturday and am VERY glad I put the bumper on.
Got into a situation where I had to blow thru some brush and found there was more to it than just some loose branches.
Yes, you can snap off a 2" dead tree trunk.

Breakin' stuff..

Ollie, at least you used the bumper this time and not your ribs ! Maybe I should have just bought another Bwear from Rob, wrapped that around the front of the sled and saved some bucks! B:beer;

well im sorry poo boys... no problems with the XP... she just keeps pullin... right past the dragon... down the hills or up the trail... dont be afraid

I know for a fact that this idiot hasnt even seen a dragon! He definately hasnt rode next to one or on one! What a f____in liar! Hes really proud of his sled because hes rode it in 1ft of snow and boulders every weekend for 200 miles!

Whoo hoo... that sounds like fun.... when he gets that thing in some real snow well see him on the skidoo thread with the same complaints as every other xp rider....

When he first pulls that thing up next to a dragon on the hill.....hes in for a rude awakening! I can gaurantee you wont see him on the polaris threads again! Hell be running back to his daddy with his tail between his legs begging for more gas money to go ride the trails again!

I hate to say this but you are right. Not on somethings but this sh_t head should have at least waited untill he has rode one to start bashing it. I think they are both going to be incredible machines.

Amen to that....

It costs over $100 to fill up the truck these days, OUCH!!!

Wearing an Ankle bracelet buddy??

An interesting point on another thread that I moved over here.

That, my friend, is where we differ... (and I stress the friend part)

I have the TCP bumper and can say that if you hit something hard enough with the TCP bumper attached and bend the bulkhead....It would have happend without it as well and taken a whole lot else with it. The IQ bulkhead is a triangulated design (different than the REV) sleds.

Bulkhead-2.jpg

RMKRIDER... have you had one of the TCP bumper in your hands or installed one? If you haven't, I can understand where the doubts are coming from.

The bulkhead on the IQ is very strong, but if it were to crumple I'd rather replace that at $1050 (for the complete 2007 -2008 bulhead tunnel assy) than a motor that got split in half, pipe, can, throttle bodies, hood, airbox, steering hoop, steering post etc....

The bulkhead/tunnel assys are not the most expensive parts on the sled... Actually, the two fenders, hood, nose pan, hinge etc add up to be way more than a bulkhead costs... I'll take the bumper any day!

The TCP bumper distrubutes the load across the bulkead and the bulhead is actually reinforced by this distribution.

Pray for snow everyone!!!

This theory would require a perfectly centered colision. Just a thought.....

Bumper in

Finally got my bumper in, and on. Here are a few pics, I've really got to run, but wanted to get these on here. I strayed a little from the directions, but I took pics of all major steps and will be happy to send them to whomever want's them.
I would like to stress that this is a QUALITY part. Very well made, and thought out.

As you can see here, there is literally nothing metal in front of the bulkhead. Ok, a couple of screws, but they are screwed into plastic.
020s.JPG

The fitment of all the parts was spot on. Didn't have to "Massage" anything.

I really like the looks of the bumper installed with the fenders not cut out. Look better RJ?
036s.JPG

Finished product. Still a couple things to buff out, but the hood fits perfectly (had to use the provided shims) and it never did before. I picked the whole sled up with the bumper and nothing broke, wiggled, or squeeked.

I am really happy that I did this. Rob's BB are the best mod I've done TO my sled, but this bumper is the best one I've done FOR my sled.
If I dont' get a chance later, ......Merry Christmas everyone! Bagger

That looks good, better I think than going with the directions and cutting the plastic side pieces. Great job!

OK what do the guys that have put this on and cutting the sides, think of putting it on and not cutting the plastic sides thanks for your imput

I think it will allow you to put the skid plate on, but I would like Bagger To put up a couple pics of the close off plate he put it (hint, hint).

Would be interested to see if it packs snow better or worse.

That looks really good baddger

did you trim that basket or leave it out all together

did you use that tcp supplied plate or fab a new one

if you get a chance could you possibly take a few more pics and post them

I got a tcp bumper and am going to install it just not yet

I got to get out and go for a ride get rid of that itch

Thanx

Closing off the cold white stuff

Ollie, I left the stock nose bottom, and the radiator basket in place, and simply cut out for the bumper/crash plate. You can see that there are two triangle "holes" left over from the radiator screen. When my skidplate comes in, I'll see if it covers them, if so, great, if not, then I will fashion plugs for the holes with the screen and attach them to both the sled bottom, and the skidplate.

Heading up (finally) to the cabin Thursday night after work or Friday morning, will "research" how the snow packs/reacts to the new front end, thru the morning of the 1st. Sounds like there is a bunch of snow and more coming. Whew, I didn't know if I would make it there for a while! Bagger

I still really wanna put that bumper on my 900, I just have the hands of a crack addict and am absolutley horrid when it comes to cutting stuff ....:(

My hands are the same way. People that don't know me are always wondering if I'm a crack addict, drunk or have Parkinson's disease.

I think it's going to collect alot more snow than if you were to cut it and seal it.... Maybe even up in the fenders.... Snow will turn to ice and weigh a bunch.....

I was even thinkng of drilling some holes in the plate to allow snow to fall out.....

Bagger, that looks awsome.
Should work great.

Rideguy
I didn't notice a LOT of snow build up. The open area does collect snow however the only part I found that actually turned to ice was the part from the top of the down tubes to the plate (about an inch). The rest would just fall out. You collect more snow around the A-arms than the front bumper and I didn't notice any difference in the buildup with the A-arms between the sled with the front bumper and the one with the stock bumper.

I don't suppose anyone has a step-by-step picture HOWTO for how they did this on their 900 do they?

I know MountainHorse posted what he did to get it on his in a previous thread but I guess I'm curious how and what you'd have to do differently from what the instructions for the RAW would be than for the original IQ. I know it's been stated you have to run the stock, FnI or Timbersled intake in order for it to work ....

Anyone else got one on their 900?

Sealin' er up.

Rideguy,
The front of the sled is sealed up as tight or tighter than it was stock. I don't know how snow would get up in there now. I'll let you know after the New Year weekend.
As stated before, the only access for snow is two small area's that will be covered by the skidplate.
Rab,
That's the TCP block off plate. Really a nice piece. I left the basket in place and trimmed everything to fit the bumper. Really isn't that hard once you decide to cut things. Obviously cutting precludes the posibility of going back, and my spare parts aren't, they are cut up, so I can't trade them to someone that need's them.
I'll be happy to post better pics, just trying to get them to post. I resize them , but keep getting told that they are too big. I have seen people post bigger pics, so it's me, just gotta figure it out.
Hope everyone had as good of a Christmas as I did ! Bagger
