Doo Oil Warranty Signage

Just has 2 of my buddies pickup their new 2018 850 doo's from the local dealer-
They told me that they had to sign a waiver to accept the warranty stip's.
That they would run only Doo oil ( I assume the XPS)
If not the warranty could be voided if there was damage to the motor..

Has enyone els heard of this- or has this been talked about before??

Been going on for years... had to do it with my 14 when I picked it up as well.

Doesn't the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act make it against the law for them to do so. You have to use a oil that conforms to the dealers specs but not run theirs specifically.

That’s what I told them also— but to sign a warranty stipulation
seem like they(doo) are crossing the line.
I have been addressed when I bought that it is Recommended -
but never a term of their warranty.

Just seems not right.

Whats the specs on etec injection oil? To my knowledge there is no industry standard like engine oil.
If brp wants there oil that designed for their engine to make sure the engine is protected than why is this always a topic?

Heard some rental place was not using Doo oil and lost a few motors.....Other rental place in same town used only Doo oil and has not lost one 850.( Being vague on location on purpose).Doo pays attention to this.

I looked in warranty section of the owners manual a few days ago when reading though and I recall they saying you must use a compatible and adequate oil but it didn’t specify that it must be Ski doo brand. I’ll have to give it a reread out of curiosity even though I use their oil.
