doo belts vs. aftermarket

has anyone tried aftermarket belts on an 07 or 06 rev summit 800? if so what brand... and did it work as well or better as the stock belt?

on my 05 RT 1000 i run carlisle belts, i have 500 miles on one with some HARD deep pow riding, the thing has some wear but is looking pretty darn good for a sled with this much power. and at half the price of DOO ones with a year warranty im not really worried

Im not a very big fan of the gates belts for the 800s mine only made 100 miles. Im trying a Carlisle UltraMax now and like it.Pluse they have a one year warentey. If you are goin to try a aftermarket belt make sure it has the grooves cut in the top for better cooling or they wont last. especally if you ride like me ;-)

Had very good luck with the gates on my 01 800 had most of them go over a thousand mile's and I ride hard most of the time. Have not tried one on my 09 Xp yet but maybe after I kill one of my stock ones.

I used an aftermarket belt on my 03, and it didnt put the power to the ground so good. the doo belts are the way to go if you ask me. i've run the 166 and the 377 on my 06 and like both of them. i dont know which one is more durrable. the 166 have lasted 500 to 800 miles. never blown one. i buy new ones after the cording starts to get all the way around the belt. i've only used one 377 belt. seems like it went a little quicker then the 166. 90% of my riding on the belts is mt. Baker.

Where can you get the Carlisle belt? and what's the number for an XP anyone know?

Running a gates on my 08 XP now. Performance is better than the BRP belt...only have 70 miles on it so we will see how it holds up.

Which gates? I seem to be eating BRP belts still even after they gave me the new belts and aligned everything.

If your eating belts, it's not the belts fault. Setup, alignment and clean clutches and belts will last a looong time. IMO the Doo -377 or -288 belts are the best out there for the XP. We have not had or seen good results with Carlisle or anything besides Doo belts. Also, when changing belts you will have to change clutching in most cases as the compounds are all different.

Have had very good results with the Carlise Ultimax XS belt. Probably 90% as good as a doo belt. Takes a little longer to break in, but once they do they are a nice option for the price. The XP is a XS821 and the REV is a XS803.

They came out with a XP specific belt? I will have to give that a try. i wonder if it is a softer compound like the 166/288 or hard like 377??
