LCD backlights will only go so low... don't have an infinite range like analog CRTs do.
I like LCDs, much easier on the eyes... but really, nothing beats a -good- CRT. "Good" like the $1500 computer monitors.... Color-matched, flat-screen, fast refresh, all the goodies.

exactly... other thing, is since you have GPS you have a real good altimeter... can tell if you're climbing or descending and adjust engine accordingly

you could make a boosted sled just feel like a motor with an exponential power curve
it would be like a super high end fuel system like not just a electronic carb that runs at high pressure, and is slightly smarter. it would be super good
honestly, a barometric pressure sensor would be way better than alt... it does alt and weather combined. that with a good air temp sensor.. and your have exact air density.
