Does The 2012 Pro Have A Break-In Chip?

I want to ride! Sick of browness!! I want a blanket of soft beautiful white stuff! Not the kind you go to jail for either.

My dealer told me that there was limited power up until 2.5 hours of run time. Never really explained that, but Im guessing they did it all out of the ECU. I had my 2011 also last year, was told the same thing, and never felt a difference in power really.

Limited power because the rings haven't seated yet and the crank bearings and clutching needs to loosen up. Have never heard of a 'break in chip' on any sled other than doo

On the Doo it was at least 250 miles, some went as long as nearly 500 based on what my dealer saw downloading ECUs. I didn't really notice much of a difference except oil usage in the first tank and a little more in the next 2-3. They definiely pulled max RPM after less than 50 miles. I am going to run the new Pro hard right out of the box. I think it helps the rings seating, not worried about bearings and clutches too much.

I want to put this mystery to rest. There is a "break in chip" on your pro rmk. Today I went to my local polaris dealer in durango, Co.....Fun Center. I went to service and talked to the manager (shane). I specifically told him about this thread and ask what he knew of it. He said he had never herd of it....so he got to the bottom of it for me. He called the factory tech line right in front of me. On speaker phone I herd it right from the horses mouth. "yes, the pro rmk does have a break in (not sure if he said chip or program) in the ecm. This Retards ignition or timing (not sure again) in order for the injectors, rings, crank all to settle in. This Changes or burns out between 2 and 3 hours. This is not in the service manual because most people never notice the difference between pre and post break in". Sorry if the tech guys words are not an exact quote but just wanted to let you guys know.

Dynotech Research dyno'd a 2011 last yr with a new ECM and then swapped it for a ECM with over 300 miles,I believe it was like a 5hp difference. I have not heard anything on the 2012s about this.

That's NOT true!

You made me go double check myself. I was right.

138 HP.. was with a zero hr ECU

143 HP was Broken in ECU

This was on a late 2010 build Pro RMK

Alright I owe you lunch,

I checked that link you posted to SnoWest, heck you can hardly ever believe anything posted on that site................

2.2 hours of break-in according to POLARIS engineering (or so they were told) on the early run 2011

Doesn't say that it carried through on the 2011 full production run, and on follow-up dyno runs, there was never any further mention of it?????
