Does anyone ride in Maine???

Just wondering if anyone on here lives or rides in the state of Maine. I am trying to do some reasearch on what sledding is like there..... what kind of snow, how much, where do they ride, destination cites and so on....

Thanks in advance for any help,
Feel Free to PM too

yes I am a flatlander

I live in MA and ride in ME. I rode 1400 miles in ME and 400 miles in MT this season. Did a trip to West Yellowstone and have signed up for the 09 trip already. Our snow is heavier compared to yours. We had record snowfalls for the 08 season. We do have off trail opportunities but far fewer than out west. Our elevations are from sea level to 3000 ft. plus. Maybe our sled have more power :face-icon-small-win. Jackman, Rangley, Greenville, Millinocket, Fort Kent our the big snowmobiling hubs. From these centers you can go anywhere. The whole state is connected by trails and I do saddlebag trips from one center to another. Grooming is taken care of by many dedicated snowmobile clubs. Money for grooming comes from different sources, state as well as donations and club dues. The forums are kind of dead now that the snow is gone. www.hardcoresledder.com has state forums for more info. www.sledme.com and www.sledmaine.com are others.

Supposed ot be some awesome riding in VT, MA and Maine.. Haven't gotten up there yet

replace the MA with an NH. there is not much riding in MA, i live there and i don't register my sled in my state. you need to go further north to get to good snow.

I do the same as you. Saves the sales tax. I can't wait to retire in ME.

the way i look at it, why drive 2-3 hours to western ma when you can drive 2-3 hours north and find way better snow and mountains.

I live in CT and can Ride from my house all the way to Canada!!, I ride to October MTN and Graylock and back all the time. Me and 2 buds were goint to ride to Canada and meet our Buds up there then do a week in Canada, But when we left on Feb 1 the snow was no good this year so I hope to pull off that trip next year. There is OK ridding in MA for day rides, Most of the time the trails are ruff, VT is good if you go north far enough, I like Canada Better than ME, Shorter drive to a better spot IMO but don't really know ME that well either but there is great ridding there I know. I go 3 times a year to Canada, the day after X=Mas I head up till after New years then 10 days in Feb and 4 days in March. Other than that its day trips or weekend trips in NE.

canada is cool i fyou hate your rig and the toys you tow with it. its a great place to go if the wife won't let you buy anything new. the locals will take care of that problem for ya.
