Does 09 800 dragon need premium gas?

My dad took my new to me dragon for a ride yesterday and it quit at about ten miles. No reason why except when I leveled it out it started and ran another five miles home. Don't know what happened, but not very comforting. Is this sled supposed to have premium in it?

It might've sucked some air out of the fuel tank, as he was on a hill. But still 1/2 a tank in it, my m1000 would've never done that.

i would highly recommend premium fuel in those 800s they had enough trouble without the fuel not being good. that wouldn't cause your problem, and i never had mine do that even when the tank was almost empty, i don't think that's your problem.

another thing you might want to check is to see if the hose is on on the inside of the fuel tank. that would cause it not to run on an incline but then run on flat ground. Seen alot of people go through alot of work only to find out its something simple like that. just a thought

i wouldnt run anything less than premium. the savings of a few bucks versus a now motor or top end just dont pencil out for me. the quality of gas is already bs for premium, i dont even want to think about what 89 really is as far as oct.

Check your fuel filter as well (since that is easy and cheap to change out). Sounds like you are not getting fuel or power (like some said with the voltage regulator).

As far as fuel is concerned, I ran 87 in my D8 up til I modded it with a high comp head. 87 will burn hotter and in theory provide more power. The problem comes with ethanol fuel but that is a whole other story.

For a voltage regulator the sled should still start. It won't run very good and usually the instrument cluster goes off.

Sounds like a fuel issue.

Have you checked for spark yet?
