Dodge?? 06 5.9 or 07 6.7???

ctd forums discuss unplugging the egr plug, easy mpg gains-worked on my 07

They also discuss how the EPA is going to be cracking down even more on diesels and if you are caught taking off the EGR or DPF you're breaking a federal law and could be fined up to $3,500.. bunch of crap but just know this stuff before you do it

i drive an 07 with the 5.9 and its a great truck . i pull 10 000 pounds almost daliy and 17000 every few days around the city . the stock trany sucks i went through 4 of them at first now my fifth is lasting me . my truck having 35's gets good milage epmty or pulling . the 6.7 s are a good motor as well , pretty much a stroked 5.9 . the dfps on them suck , more so if you drive them in the city and in the cold .rip the crap out and you have an outstanding truck . it may be against the law though down there .if youre going to leave the truck stock and pull lots get the 6.7 . if youre going to mod them with chips and crap either one is about the same . Oh yeah some dealer ships will void youre warenty if u pull the dfp.

I have a 6.7l in a SRW 3500 and love it. I get about 16-18 mpg empty and about 12 towing a 11,500 trailer. My truck is an '08, has 16,000 miles on it, and has worked perfectly. My buddy has the '07.5 and has had nothing but problems with it. The 6 speed auto and engine brake are pretty impressive for a stock pickup. It goes like stink and stops like stink too. My last truck was a 2500 5.9l '01.5 auto. 235 hp-460 trq. The 6.7l at 350 hp and 650 trq is so much better! The mileage isn't as good as the '01.5, but it shouldn't be. It's tough to make a bigger engine and make it drink less fuel.:)

I have an 07 5.9 w/ 4spd auto. 2500 HD. I have 24,000 miles now and it has been perfect. I live at 7800' rocky mountains and it performed great all 4 seasons. Pull 12,000# over two 10,000' passes very often.

I have two friends with the 6.7 auto and they have been great. Both of them are over 50,000 miles and they pull 38 and 40' Montana's with double pull two atv's behind the 5th wheels. No problems at all. The new set up and new auto is just plain awesome.

My son just bought a new Dodge long bed with tow package etc etc a few months ago. $32,000 what a deal. He has 7000 miles now pulling a 5th wheel tow hauler 38' 5th wheel.

The Turbo set up, used as a brake works flawless so far and is very effective.

The 6.7 gets less mileage than my 5.9 but the 6.7 dumps that fuel in to clear the trap so that's just the way it is.

That's my .02.

Good luck
