Documentation of Sale.

I live in BC Canada I have a sled that I bought as a private sale but I have absolutely NO documentation. No bill of sale. No registration.

1) What kind of documentation do I need to sell the thing? Can I get this from a dealer?

2) What kind of documentation does ICBC need?

I was hoping to do a trade with someone in the US but I'm thinking that getting my sled down there, and getting another sled back is going to be a nightmare...

You can sell it to another person in BC without anything really....as long as they don't want to register or insure it. You should always do up a little bill of sale...I ______ sell my _______ to _______, dated, signed by both, paid in full for the amount of _______, VIN#. Good to have in my opinion.

To do it legit, you will need the previous owner's registration and a transfer form signed by you and whoever sold it to you. You can bring that in, pay the tax on it, and get it registered in your name. Then you can do a transfer form to the whoever you sell it to.

Honestly, given that you don't have that stuff for your sled, the thought of getting that all together, and then going through import/export on 2 sleds sounds awful. I would just sell it to someone in BC and then go buy whatever.

Exactly, if whoever sold it to you gave you no paperwork whatsoever, there's a good chance they never had any. It's all good to fly around with no paperwork, but if you go through a roadblock and they start looking into it mroe deeply they will want something to prove it's your's.....
