Do you remove all the foam from underneath the hood?

Do you remove all the foam from underneath the hood? Or do you leave some that is there for heat shielding?

I always pull it all and then add reflective tape on everything around the can.

On my turbo I left the foam around the can in case it got extra hot compared to my 18. Doesn’t seem like that’s been the case though so I’ll probably pull it next time I pull the can off.

I feel the foam isn’t that big of a deal. It absorbs water well, I usually keep it, especially near my clutches. I think the clutches and belt stay dryer with the foam in. I’ve tried it both ways. Few sleds I pulled all the foam, but my last two I have kept it in. Maybe the engineers put it in there for more than noise reduction [emoji2369]

there is no doubt that unless you bring the sled into a very well heated and fan induced garage that the foam holds water which will make everything look 2 years older than it is and you will be carrying that around all season, it is for noise, you will notice the sound increase. I pull all foam and the felt inside the cvt cover especially around the clutch area.

I emptied the nose cone an taped it with reflective tape. I have removed most of the foam on the clutch side but reused some of it improving the seal between side panel and hood in front of the exhaust port servo, (was a problem on my previous sled). I haven't touched the can side foam since it has that thick reflective layer on it.
I'm not decided yet if I'm going to remove the felt sheet under the air box or not, did it on my last sled but I'm old and I like it quiet. Might just secure the clips holding it with some super glue and leave it there, (have heard about/seen clips falling off and ending upp in the clutches, might have been just a one time thing happening to one guy on the internet but the image stuck in my head).

ys i suggest leaving that sheet in place, but sorry i should have said i keep the thin foam at the door seals as they are small and seal the doors to body better. cheers dave
