glad to see everyone got out ok. Its about time we had a little luck over here in the US. "The sun don't shine on the same dogs a$$ everyday, but we haven't seen any in a very long time (so it seems).

Since everyone is ok, I did see some humor in some of the photos comming back from the crash site.....

Those pilots did an outstanding job of putting that bird down in one piece if the initial stories are correct that they hit birds:eek: on take-off and lost both engines. That could have been very ugly for both those on the aircraft as well as those on the ground where ever it happened to come down. Those pilots earned their pay today!

Hopefully they replace that one with a Boeing model :beer;

No doubt, sounds like the Pilots did a great job.

rapala

so you need that size rapala to catch the human? holy moly what size test line would pull that big hogger?

My hats off to the pilot and crew. Talk about being under PRESSURE :eek: , it will be one of the leading stories for this year for sure. Now you don't suppose the turd that murdered the ducks on a sled could be a disgruntled airline pilot:rolleyes: ...Dino

Why didn't the rear door slides inflate? Surely, there's more rafts on that plane, than that.

Nope, only need rafts for +60 minutes from shore (ETOPS). You do need life jackets though whenever over water. Slides are all they had in that mishap for flotation.

Wow ..I allways fly US airways when going to mexico so glad to hear they hire good pilot's..but how can birds take these iron crows down? I see the testing (on TV) these engines go through and they put ice ,rocks ,metal and hunks of frozen meet through them and they keep going, so I wonder why a few birds would take this plane down...Not enough speed because of take off??

You would be suprised how much damge a large bird can do to those engines on take when they are at max thrust. We lost a large 4 engine military jet here At Elmendorf AFB here a few years back. There were alot of Canadian Geese hanging out around the air strip. They kept chasing tthem of with rubber bullets rather than real ones. Took out all 4 jet engines on take off:eek: That one did not turn out so well. They did get lucky and not take out any buildings. It actually happens alot more than the general public is aware of. The difference is, it usually only takes out one engine, not all of them. Those pilot are hero's to first sterr that thing clear of objects with now power, and then to set it down gently enough for everyone to walk away!

Going back to Germany...yrs ago. almost same thing happened
lost (1) engine.. pilot turned back, We all got off, since I was Military
and would be AWOL if I didn't get back SOOOON, They immediately
put me on another jet,. Ist Class..., did not even think about what
happened.. only what might happen if I did not get there in time lol
those pilots earn every damned dime they get!
