DO NOT BUY A CAMOPLAST EXTREME TRACK!

Purchased a new Camo Extreme 2.5x16x163 track from a local dealer who ordered the track through Western Power Sports in Idaho. While on a trip to Idaho and with less than 100 miles on the track noticed a separation of about 2 inches from the edge of the track towards the window. Called Western Power Sports and offered to bring the track to Boise to get a warranty replacement. They refused to talk with me insisting that I return the track to the dealer (in Washington State) and have them contact Camoplast. The track was returned to the dealer who sent pictures to Camoplast. They insisted that the track be sent to their location IN MICHIGAN at my expense. One month later they denied the warranty -no reason given. I then was given the option to pay the return shipping or give them the track. The dealer and I could not find any signs of damage or abuse. The few miles on this track were all on the trail family riding as I was breaking in a new sled. The 2 other guys I know running this track are either missing lugs or have other problems and they are both under 1000 miles.

DO NOT PURCHASE AN AFTERMARKET CAMOPLAST TRACK AS CAMOPLAST DOES NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCT OR PROVIDE CUSTOMER SUPPORT/SERVICE! At least with an OEM track the manufacturer can warranty it on the spot and then get taken by Camoplast while you are out riding. Even if Camoplast does approve a warranty return it will be 2-3 months from the time you begin the process -how long is the snowmobile season?

Out $800, two weeks of riding after traveling to Idaho, 3 hours X 2 swapping tracks, and patience!!!

The Camoplast website says "We are a customer focused...Blah, Blah, Blaaaaaah" = BS!!!!!!!!

It is hard getting around not having a camoplast track... I know they make the stock ski-doo tracks, don't know about the other 3 but I think they would. At least with a stock OEM track you get a manufacture warranty. I bought a 2.5 from Tracks USA and love it so far. I did send Camoplast some feedback on future tracks and they didn't even say thanks. To me it seems like a quality issue, hope you can get it resolved.

Cheers
Shawn

mine works but i know your pain

i have a 2.5 x 174 and many others never had a prob with any but i've seen them with problems oh well its like pulling teeth, just like sw not wanting to publish bad stuff on their contributers.

Dude you got hosed. The Camoplast distributor should have stepped up as professionals and reconcile the situation. Your not the only one this has happened to over the years. It is most unfortunate others have been taken care of in a timely matter and you are kicked to the curb.

I have been running a 154" X 16" X 2.5" Challenger on a 2008 XP and all good.

Bruce has seen issues come up with the extremes 15" and 16" wide. In fact he sold the rest of them he had left this spring with no warranty. He told me point blank there has been quite a few failures this season and doesn't know if was just a bad "batch" or what...there does seem to be an issue. I have had a 162 x 15 x 2.5 for 3 season and it's been a great track. I did buy another from Bruce for a discounted price and no warranty..taking my chances I guess.

I just bought one from Bruce in January......to replace one I had bought almost a year before from him. I did not even question it coming apart as I had ported it quite a bit and it was tore from the outside edge thru 2 of the ports. Figured it was my mistake for that tear. Hope this replacement holds together.....It cost me more than the first one so I did not port it. Hope the warranty is good if there is a problem this time....

Not installed backwards!

The little arrows on the track were installed in the direction of rotation -just like the CVT belts that also have the same little arrows!

I am on my second 162x 16x 2.5 track that is coming apart. The left side is missing like 6 lugs in a row, it all started from hitting a rock early season this year in snow that had no base, to avoid getting stuck I punched it and trenched down really deep and hit a rock, after that the rest of the season I kept losing lugs in tha area. I am not trying to warrenty this one because I know i hit something. I did warrenty my last years track though, I had only had it about two rides and it was losings lots of lugs, after two months I had an entire bald spot on my track for almost a foot. After lots of phone calls to tracks usa and camplast and an entire summer tracks usa refunded about $500 dollers for the track. It just seems with the lugs getting longer and longer the tracks just are not holding up, I am thinking about the 3 inch next year, but I am sure it will do the same thing.

I have to disagree with this. I have a 2.4" track that I have I have hit stumps hard enough to tear the hyfax and still not delaminate a track. I have torn lugs off, but never pulled rubber loose from the fabric of the track. I think that it is more of a quality issue vs long lugs.

Yeah it does seem to be a quality issue, but it is getting old replacing my track every season.
