Do I exchange my 2013 Pro for the XM?

I ride a '12 Pro, and I have a an XM in the garage that I have not ridden yet. I absolutely love the handling and performance of my Pro. The XM has a much different feel to it than the Pro does, even when I'm just standing on it while making motor noises. The fit & finish on the XM appears to be better than on the Pro, and I think the XM is going to be a great sled. I, personally would go with the Pro, and swap out the driveshaft immediately, like Jaynelson said. Once you get accustomed to the handling of the Pro, nothing else really compares. Can't really go wrong either way.

Mind made uo

XM it is. I hope I like it. I think it's crazy to worry about buying a Pro right now with the potential of all the failures occurring.

Thank God my dealer sells both brands

Steve

SKIDOO for sure......
HP is greater and the Etec engine more reliable than a 800 CFI-2. I would say as far as boondocking not too sure only have limited time on the XM. I love my XP and the minute I can get an XM i'm pulling the trigger.

My brother and I are about to do the same- what dealer dis you get yours at?

i was close to getting a pro but with less warrenty(two year engine and one year b to b), a fifteen wide track tunnel and the fact i was able to get a better deal from my brp dealer i went with the xm. The fact that i can put my 74 16" 3" track under it was a big one aswell as the fact i got 3 year warrenty on the entire sled. What i have noticed so far is that it seems to have more jam than the etecs did in 2011 and it is still on break in mode, very easy to make it go where i want it to but i am coming off my 08 174 xp. dont seem to notice the extra weight but welcome it in the week areas. In comparison to my 08 is deffinetly not as stable hill climbing kinda seems to want to dart all over i dont knowif its from the 154" track or the tmotion, wont be hard to get used to though, non the less my easy ryde 74 will be on it in the new year after i run it with the turbo for a while i dont think anything can compare with that set up on the steep hills. sorry for ranting very excited this thing built its gunna be a monster

I feel the polaris and skidoo are very close in overall performance, but when decided for me it comes down to the dealership service. And where i live the doo dealer is horrible, so polaris it is.For you, your dealer has both, so you win which ever way you go.

We have an excellent polaris dealership where I live. To me its more than a good dealership, I want a great sled. I am not brand loyal to anything. I have owned all 4 brands and I bought the xm . The fit and finnish on a doo is only rivaled by yamaha. After all the drive shaft issues on the pro I am glad I bought a doo.

I was in the same boat as you poo or doo. I bought a pro after a couple rides I think I might have made a bad choice. Been riding 35 years I can generally tell within an hour 2 of seat time if I will like it.

I have been playing with the suspension. Sled felt to planted so I tightened the centre shock until it was easier to tip over. Now I'm finding it takes so much preload on the center shock that unless in soft snow the skis just push. No steering at all on hard packed snow.

I haven't ridden my Pro as it's still at the dealer paid for however they will work with me on exchanging it for the XM. Awesome dealer.

I have a Cutler 1000 m-7 with a ez ride suspension. Nice sled with great power but wanted something a little more plug and play. Keeping this sled as a spare.

Haven't ridden the Pro or XM. I live in MN and get out west 3-4 times a year and I'm worried about reliability with the Pro with the potential drive train issues and other things going on with it. I would hate to get there and have to rent a sled because something goes wrong.

It sounds like theres definitely a power difference between the two but the XM is quite bit heavier. I was thinking if I went with the XM, I could change out the muffler for a titanium one (weight savings, not sure how much) and possibly putting in the C3 belt drive system. It's an extra $1,500 and I'm worried if I will like how it handles. I hear great things on the handling of the Pro but just not sure which way to go.

Any input would be helpful. I hate being wishy washy and I'm by no way brand loyal.

Thanks
Steve

Here is some food for thought. I know a fellow that rode Polaris for years, he had a engine failure on his 2011 pro and had the 3 yr warranty. Well guess what, that warranty is time based and not a full 3 yr warranty!! He had to pay a percentage of the new engine, it's in the warranties fine print. I didn't ask how much he had to pay,and after he had a drive shaft failure he switched to doo.

My final take on the matter was the following.

Pro is lighter but Doo can be lightened to come close

Doo has significantly more HP but Pro can be modified to come close

Ride suspension is better on the Poo vs the Doo

Fit and finish the Doo wins

I would rather spend money on lightening vs engine mods and just hope I like the side hilling and boondocking of the XM

i was having a hard time deciding between the por and the xm, glad i went with the xm. two broken driveshafts this weekend on pro's in the group i ride with
