DirtBike's anybody?

Look at us. We are managing to parlay our winter obsession into a summer obsession also. I think I have a sickness.

No, no, no.

We have no sickness, it's the way it should be :D

what's that they say about drunks and alcoholics.

Drunks go to the Bar and Alcoholics go to meetings, seems kinda like the same concept.

Got some seat time on my 04 YZ250 2 smoke. It's got plenty of power on the flats and in the trees but on the hills it can be a little tricky. 450 4stroke? :)

Nope, just practice. My CR250r does just fine in the hills. Most hillclimbers still use the 2 strokes.

Come on up sometime, I'll show ya.

Oh yeah, the close gear ratio on the two strokes and keeping them on the pipe makes them climb like billy goats once you get used to it.

It's the tight up hills in rocks and trees that aren't so kind. but they aren't too kind to my 4 stroke either since it has a close ratio tranny that has the first 4 gears the same as a MX bike and adds 5 and 6 to the top for high speed destruction.

The wide ratio tranny like Mules XCW has is like a tractor in first and a porche in 6th. they are scary fast on top end and brute force grunt on the bottom.

What is a Porche?

i want street legal just to be safe. I have a friend who lives outside of Nederland with riding area just a few miles from his house. We've seen cops pull over riders on Magnolia as they are jumping from trail to trail and it would be nice to be able to cruise into town for lunch. Also he has a street legal 2 stroke. It is rare but happens. That's the only reason why i want it.

Just saw on craigslist a 2004 YZ250 2 stroke for sale that is street legal. Same price range.

As I learn more in the dirtbike world a used 4 stroke could be expensive.

Thanks

Just buy a WR 250 or 450. I don't know how your buddy hooked up a head and tail light without a battery.

AC off the stator.

Upside: easy to hook up, doesn't drain your battery when bike isn't running
Downside: lights dim at idle, inefficient.

Anyone have info for riding around Albany Wy. I know this is the Colorado forum but any info would be great. 6 riders coming out Aug. 16-19, looking for just single track riding.

The Greenridge enduro did not suck. It was a blast and they now have 13+ miles of single track burned in for next year:D

If you read my response it say's the test sections will suck for the first few rows. It's hard to go fast when there is not a good trail to follow. So then the guy on row 20 come's the test section and 80 bike's have been down the trail. Who do you think will have a easier time reading the terrain?

Anyone ever ride the Deep Lake area off the Flattops?

1) Can my kids ride thier fiddy and ninney around those trails?

2) Can I get my toyhauler in a nice spot up there?

3) Do I have to camp in the pay camp ground?

Yammer,

1)Your kids will be able to ride their bikes around up there no problem.

2) You can get the toyhauler in it will just take some time being's how you will be on dirt road for about 20 miles. The road was made bigger when they logged the flat tops a long time ago for the log trucks.

3) You can pay to camp at a site if you like or just find a spot with the toyhauler you dont need the toilets at thepay site's.

I have never camped down by deep lake I usually go over toward's crescent lake more. but, the Flat Tops is a huge area and you will have fun no matter where you are.
