Dirt bikes + snow = very cool

I'll try to post these pics of riding @ trestle today ran into 3 guys running the 2 moto (or otherwise) track system 1 KTM 530 1 YZF 450 1 Kawi 450. Let me just say that I would have been the first to say that these things prob wouldn't get out of their own way in the kind of snow we had up there, that being said eveyone in our group (about 10) were extremely impressed with how these things went. These things truly held their own today, maybe it was the riders I only knew 2 of them one was Derrik Mahony (sorry if I butcher the names :o) and one of the other guys was someone named Mike Metzger . What a day fresh pow, sunshine, and gettin to ride with guys like that. Hope the pics come through:confused:.

Are we talking about Mike Metzger the "Godfather" of freestyle??? If this is the guy (he is all tatted up) u are very lucky to have met him. He is xtremly talented

2 years ago in revy a couple of guys showed on Husqavarva 650's with the ski/powersaw package. There was 2 ft of fresh pow everywhere and it didnt slow them down a bit. Watched both of them climbing in the chutes and boondocking in the trees to the right of the sugarbowl. Almost made me want 1!!! Something about a 8 inch wide track tho............

Yep the first guy to backflip a bike!

Tatt's and a couple gold teeth, seemed like a pretty realguy not all up on himself, just out enjoying the snow and sun. I heard he lives in Coure d' Alene now, he knows Mahony and some of the guy's I was with know Mahony (a great racer also, currently enduro cross) who I heard wanted to be a dealer for one of the track kits. They weren't the replacement of the sled but if I had the extra $ lying around to get one I'd do it in a minute, would be a great toy to take out on certain days. More pics, sorry wanted to post full size from photobucket but I haven't quite got that down yet:confused:.

Not the first guy to back flip a bike, but a pioneer of freestyle for sure.

Caleb Wyatt was the first to stick it.

either way what a killer person to bump into on the mountain.

Test run for photobucket, thanks Bubba700 :beer;

That's *very* cool that the 2motos work in deeper snow. The way I see it... the more guys we have out riding the more we'll have to help us keep our trails and areas open.

Same goes for the quads. Last night up at Schweitzer they had a tracked quad pulling skiers up for the air show and I could see how folks that own quads would like to put tracks on and use their toys in the winter on the trails.

Sure it's nice to go out and not have crowds but the catch-22 is that the only way to defeat the environmental terrorists is to work together as a large group and put an end to their junk science lawsuits and scare tactics.

Think about how many quad and bike owners are out there... a huge support group for winter sports.

two moto tag-a-long

would it be pratical to bring a 2moto equipped bike along on a typical snowmobile ride?

I'm not gonna tell ya that these things are gonna chug a-long wherever the sleds where (can) gonna go, with that being said if your familiar w/trestle these guys went up through liberty bell up the ridge to the tower dropped back in below the tower headed NE climbed up over the ridge dropped into gordon cr. trail then dropped onto darling lk. trail. It wasn't over the hood powder but I cetainly saw plenty of sleds stuck. My thoughts exactly JOA the more people we have out enjoying it the better our chances of defeating the antis. Don't write these things off Sawer they could be a real hoot, if a person likes riding bikes that is. In the spring when the snow firms up it would be a blast ripp'n through the trees, I better quit posting I might talk myself into one of those goofy contraptions :face-icon-small-win then my wife would kick my arse :D.

snow biking

Just got back from a trip to the Black Hills SD. Went riding with snowhawks and Explorer bike kit and sleds. Snow was not the greatest but still fun. I got a few guys to try the snowhawks and bike kits with good things to say. If you like to play in the trees the bike kits are by far the best thing to ride IMHO. If you ever get a chance to throw a leg over one of these things dont pass up the oportunity and dont ride it for just one minute then make your mind up.

Its nice to see a sledder, give an honest assessment of these machines.
to often the single ski machines get bashed by those that are unfamiliar and talking out their arss.
I find it difficult to ride with my buddies on sleds, not that we cant go where they do, but we want more trees and dont like the trails.
if we do find some tight stuff, I find the sleds stopping or slowing down to make a corner.. always where I need some momentum to keep up on top.. That gets frustrating for sure.
It works far better when we just say.. Ill meet you at.....

most people on 2 skis probably understand the advantages and disadvantages of one ski..... its just that its so much fun to bash them because of how defensive 1 skiers are.
especially addict

huh imagine a fmx rider being down to earth....

I'd love to have a snow bike, but ya can't slap a track on a 125 and my wife would kill me if I asked for a 450.
