direct injection, could this save our beloved 2 strokes?

BRP also is warrantying the plugs for 10,000 kms.....
all the info is on their website
i have seen it in person, zero smoke or smell whatsoever
one pull start guarantee as well...every time

YES, YES, YES.......

BRP's outboards are cleaner than the 4-strokes. I believe that the E-TEC will do the same for the Doos. Direct injection 2 strokes have been around in various forms since the 80s, but were too costly to produce on a large scale.

Anyone who is/was into roadracing surely remembers the street legal 2-stroke's last stand- the Yamaha RZ. Many tears were shed upon it's demise, but I always knew that direct injection was the lowly 2-stroke's only hope. I have high hopes that innovations like E-TEC will usher in a new era of street legal 2 stroke motorcycles, as well as light (and fast) ATVs.

In the meantime, I'll be saving up for a 900 ETEC, whenever BRP decides to make one.

well guys..DI is coming to your cars/trucks too..all the major manufacturers have been working on it for years....my best guess is we will see it on the street within the next 6 yrs....I got to talk with a Delphi engineer 6 yrs ago and at that time they needed more computer onboard then what was currently available...as well as kinks in the hi pressure injectors to live in the combustion chamber..but it is coming..........

I have been saying this since 2000 when I got a DI 115HP evinrude outboard--at that time they ran cleaner than the 4 strokes, and had california approval as 4 star emmisions. They used less fuel than comparable 4 strokes with all levels of performance better than 4 strokes as well plus much lighter.
It is about time BRP moved this tech to sleds--the new E-Tech 2 stroke is awesome clean--Up at Steel Dreams last saturday they were running the 600DI E-Tech right in the showroom--NO smoke, No gas smell and quieter than a 4 stroke--could not beleive that was a 2 stroke they were running when I was on the other side of the showroom--figured it was the new 4 stroke---That new E-Tech will be the future of 2 strokes for sure.
You will see it on other machines as emmisions require them to do it--not untill then.

H20SKE...

Ditto on all of the above. I can't wait for the wife's 09 XP Summit X 154" 600 E-Tec to show up this fall. I'm sure she'll want me to break it in for her. :D :D

I rode 3 of them in Febuary, Very nice. I just wish my new 800R was DI. Maybe next year.

It is already out... I believe the Pontiac Solstice GXT or whatever... the 2.0L inline four turbocharged motor is direct. BMW has had a couple, and VW has had them too....

Very interesting stuff... like everything it is a cost/benefit... Manufacturers put out the least amount of technology that they possibly can, in order to meet emissions..

GM also has it in the cadillac cts. 300hp DI v6!

im thinking with ski-doo going to a DI motor on the 600's well see some boosted sleds again, and maybe they will make something large than 800... the skidoo SDI is a pretty weak design, but direct injection seems like turbo dreams!!
