Diff between 99 600 and 500ss motor

Hey guys,

Just curious, what updates have been made to the engine over the years, besides the obvious pipe change for the chassis? Has the compression, carbs, cdi, etc. been changed?

Can any of the new parts (head, cdi) be "bolted" on to incease power, or are they pretty much the same?
