Volume. Diesel is the most used fuel there is. Mining,forestry,trucking,rail,ship,farming...you get the point. Big volumes are consumed year round and of course more so in the winter. For example, mines in the NWT have underground caverns filled with fuel so the can operate through spring and summer. Between my pickup and big truck I alone use 90-100,000 L of diesel alone a year.
