diesel trucks, whats everyone recomend?

its all just preference. i own a 06 durmax and i love it. as for the fuel milage i have a dually with the crew cab and i was getting 12-13 towing my heavy steel 20' v-nose enclosed trailer through the mountains. and that truck will get 17+ empty through the mountains at 75mph. the 2500's will get better. so it will still put you ahead of your gasser even with the fuel price difference. as for towing difference i had a buddy tell me all i needed for my 20' trailer was a gas motor and i knew that would be horrible. a we were out at the avalanch parking lot in BV over new years. i stay in taylor park so we ride over. we were there for a week and we came back to the truck after the week and it fired right up. its no normally to cold over on that side but this year was below zero most every night on that side and it did not warm up all week during the day. mabey up to 15-20 degrees for a day or 2. but all the diesel trucks today are pretty good and they all have their problems. i say its just what you prefer and what is cost effective.

I have a 01 F-350 7.3 PSD with a 6 speed tranny. I love the truck, many goodies, ATS turbine housing, WW, chip, intake, exhaust. around town 18mpg..towing 30ft toyhauler 10K 12 mpg. The truck has 121,000 with no major issues!!!! For my next truck my thought is a Dodge!!!! cannot beat the towing power of the CUMMINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chevy Duramax - Allison auto is the way to go.

My buddies 06 has already reached 100K, his 04 130K sold it, his 01 150K sold all Duramax.'s No issues, I think his 01 had the injectors replaced but warentee took care of it.

my 03 is around 100K now no issues ohh wait they replaced my tail gate cables "recall", guess some state workers broke it and got hurt!!!

Don't think the 08's are going to have better mileage....
Dizzle bought a new one and we got 10-11mpg. Some of it was going 80-85 though

the only one i've been around is getting around 14-15 mpg with a trailer on. big improvement!!

My 05 Dodge, pulling a steel Haulmark 4 place loaded gets between 4-6mpg
going up the hill!

My POS '01 duraLAX with 200kmi on it can only manage 14 with the same trailer Better sell it for an '08.

I have 02 duramax 2500hd 22pmg 16 towing a 3 place v nose with 5inch exhaust and a edge controller love the truck.
