Diesel Owners Jump In!

Well, we did it. We bought a new 08 3500 Dodge, automatic. We loved our cummins on our 2000, so we stuck with what we knew. I haven't found any bad reports on the 6.7 automatic. Since it has a new warranty, it was worth the chance we ended up with an awesome new truck! The power is awesome, the tranny was smooth. If only cummins and allison would marry!

I have an 08 Mega Cab with the 68RFE trans. So far I am thoroughly impressed with this trans. It is supposed to be Dodges answer to the Allison. The 6 speed auto coupled with the exhaust brake works absolutely flawless. Downshifts smooth and slows you down in a hurry, hardly need to touch the brakes. I don't know how they would hold up with extremely heavy loads, but if your doing medium duty towing as I am, I don't see any negatives thus far. I also am a member of several Cummins forums and I haven't really read anything bad about the trannys yet.
The 6.7 might be another story. I have had no trouble with mine, but I have read about a number of people having turbo issues due to the EGR sending soot back through the turbo.
Mileage is slightly less on mine than on a 5.9.
Hope that helps. Good Luck on your decision.

Man, would you PLEASE SHUT THE FU*K UP!!! You are an obnoxious troll and you know NOTHING about newer diesel pickups. Just cause Daddy drives a diesel doesn't mean you automatically get to comment on things remotely related to the subject.
LMFAO they're everywhere Josh. BTW if your ride had any power, you wouldn't need an 18 speed tranny to find the sweet spot :D

hahaha...hey, shut up man!!! :D Chrysler keeps dicking me around by continuing to update the 6.7 software, so Marco won't send me my Smarty. I kid you not, I've got PMs from Bob from over a year ago that say "two weeks and you'll have it." Last week it was "they updated again while we were at Sema...looks like mid-December." I'm gonna be in Virginia and I'll get a call from my cousin: "Your Smarty showed up...I put it on 9 and smoked your tranny for you. You're welcome." :face-icon-small-ton

Congrats on the new ride Mrs.Snow....you're gonna love it.

Congrats on the purchase. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

lmfao, i havent laughed that hard in along time. thats great

Do I need to remind you to stfu every time? You're not allowed to laugh. Dukie actually OWNS a 700+HP Cummins that he built...it's not his Daddy's stock ride that he gets to drive on the weekends. Dukie is allowed to make fun of me. You, Junior, are not.

for towing i wouldent trust the 68RFE as far as an excavator could chuck it
if your going to do any serirous hauling get a stick we put on 50k a year with our nv5700 6 speed.

if your only going to have the truck for 35k and trade it in, get an auto then your not having to put out any input into the trucks performance your just along for the ride.

and the 6.7 is one of the junkiest things ive ever seen cummins put in a vehicle. 5 out of 6 people have had the head warp and the torque converter discentegrate within 30k

Well hope you are wrong.

My son's father-in-law is on his second Dodge which now has almost 200,000 on it. Both of his trucks were stick.

My two friends tow very heavy and are retired rich butts. They travel all over the US and double tow with a second trailer containing two ATV's and their 5th wheels are big Montanas. No problems so far not one!

I double tow witha Coachman pull behind and a 16' 2d trailer with a UTV and two dirt bikes. Now I am at 24,000 miles and tow over two 10,000' passes and not a problem at all. Of course I am not towing over weight at all.

I know my trans is weak link, but with the deal I got , I can put $3000 in it down the road and no big deal. It is worth having the simplicty of the Cummins 5.9.

Ford is 100% out for me now, have had personal experience with 7.3 and up and too many problems and too many problems with Ford service around here.

Like Chevy/GMC (always was a GMC man until now) but I know more people who have done so well with the 5.9.

Kong Out!

Big congratulations. :beer;

I wish I had gotten the new Dodge (It was out first year when I bought mine) but I was chicken for a new model anything.

Since I am tracking and traveling with three of them, they are totally awesome. And the exhaust braking system using the turbo is totally slick.

My friends and son hardly touch the brakes on our steep passes.

Enjoy
