Die hard Doo...Just switched to Poo..Need the ins and outs of my new Pro!

Just keep your clutches clean and make sure you have your belt deflection adjusted properly.
I would file (or grind the edge) of the rear of the tunnel drop bracket where the track goes back up into the tunnel.... these can be too sharp and when you sidehill the track will rub on there and continue to fray the edge of your track.

Otherwise.... figure out a way to get that grin off your face at the end of the day!

Is that the facker causing my track to fray? I always thought it was cuz its a soft track and having to ride gravel every once n a while in the sea to sky it tore it up..

I ended up putting 2 flat washers between the bracket and the shaft on each side to space the tunnel and brackets out wider..mine was rubbing quite a bit...

Originally I thought it was rubbing on some rivits up in the tunnel where the drivers are.... but no it was the drop brackets.

My Assault came with more wheels than what I thought it would based on the pictures in the Spring, but I had to leave one set off to keep the scratchers on it. I think it has some in the front, some in the middle behind the scratchers, and then the rear axle.

You have the worst dealer in the world if he socks it to you for using AMSoil.

Also just made the switch from Doo. Haven't ridden yet but I asked my dealer about the oil and he told me I can run whatever as long as it is synthetic. I specifically asked about Amsoil Interceptor and he said that was fine. Have always ridden Amsoil with no problems, for what it is worth.

Also made the switch

After 12 years of SkiDoo I have finally jumped ship and bought a new Pro-163. What do I need to be aware of? What Oil do most people use? Any help for this Polaris "Newbie" would be greatly appreciated.
Whatever you do don't hop back on your doo to compare until you are fully comfortable on the PRO, Hated my pro first ride, wasn't impressed with it second ride, really didn't like it third ride, wasn't that bad fourth ride, love it from there on. Hopped on my doo yesterday to get a friend(new rider on my doo) through a technical area, felt like I was on a tank, and I loved my Doo, that was before I knew any different, not going back!!! Keep scratchers down always if not in 3"+ of new and ride the crap out of it,, they're amazing.

Polaris VES Gold is the best! I use it in everything from ski boat to race jetskis. Tried a lot of different brands on race engines. VES just seems to work best for everything! The only down side is they need better color. If premixing it is hard to tell if your fuel can has oil or not. It is gasoline color. Smell is good and very little smoke.

Bombardier XPS II works well also but I switched because it is dirty! Look in the bottom of a jug sometime, it looks like some one dumped dirt in it and then it settled out. VES gold looks like you could cook with it and it will idle all day long...

it has been discussed before quite a few times, but your dealer cant, NOT warranty a claim for using a differnt brand oil - UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU THE OIL FREE OF CHARGE
would never hold up i court, if it got there

back on topic - also a former DOO rider here and stoked to try out my pro
i went a little different direction, and snagged up a standard RMK 600 (yes 600) 144

I wanted the 144 2" track, extra cooler up front, adjustable skis and better bars/steering post. the price point was also appealing, as i got it under $10k for a brand new sled, and i only get west twice a year.
the power to weight ratio of my REV 800 151 is pretty close to this one, so I think it will hang just fine in the deep stuff.
REV was 0.286 and the pro 600 is 0.292...so I guess the pro even has the advantage slightly
now this is based on an ESTIMATED dry weight and HP from both manufacturers...we all know how THAT goes ;)

I am SO STOKED to try out the proride chassy its not even funny. We have ZERO snow and its depressing as balls.

uuuggghhhh......

pray for snow everyone......

Same boat here. Just picked up my new Pro-163 from the dealer and its still in back of the truck. I did think about scraping off all of the Polaris stickers and putting on SkiDoo stickers in their place just to avoid the hell I'm going to catch from my riding crew. But last year was sad when a stock Pro mopped the floor with 06 800 rev (and I was running NOS).

When I went from the ZX to the rev, I thought riding my old ZX was like trying to jump cornices in a cement truck. I sold the two ZX's the next year. Now I've got an 06 and 07 rev that I refuse to part with until I know that this Pro is as great as everybody says it is. Problem is when I jumped on the first rev, there was no learning curve, it was just pure awesomeness from minute one. I don't understand why the Pro is hard to get used to, but I guess I will find out here in a couple of weeks.

I used to buy a new SkiDoo every other year since 2002, but in 07 we started having kids and its funny how that changes things.

Rented a Summit and Pro last year to see which I liked best. The Pro won out by just a hair. My 163 Pro is now waiting for snow. First trip set for 1-8-12.

Weedkillers right, Kids change everything. But got boy started last year.

He likes Green! He will come around.

Ha, that looks great. My boy and I sat on the pro and fired it up on the grass this morning, he grabbed a fistfull of throttle and I hit the brake just as fast, but it was about enough to buck us both off. No snow here in western ND, but we are headed for the Horns day after Christmas. Hope you guys have fun on your trip.
