Did I freeze a lung?

Try an online diagnosis search..here's one http://www.freemd.com/?cs=1 I did and found out that my one nut bigger than the other was not because it was frozen:) J/K, not to make light, hope ya figure out your ailment. All sorts of stuff starts falling apart past 40. Guess that's why cavemen died young.

I don't have one of those. Maybe your worse off than me. How do you get insurance without a job? I tried it a few years ago, that's ins. not a job, they charged me $600 a month with a thousand deductable. I'm sorry, I couldn't keep paying that. A new sled every few years is half that much.
I here the most of you '' go to a doctor'' but I was hoping by asking my good friends on Snowest I could get a clue without endless time spent in doc visits.
I watch my neighbor's family run to the doctor once a week or more for every little cough. I know that's part of the reason many of us can't afford health ins.

Owen

If I pay for my health insurance I'm going to make sure it is used. Why suffer when you can likely get something fixed?

Yes, $600 a month is expensive for health insurance if you have to pay it out of your own pocket. It's a lot more expensive to pay out of your pocket for one accident or medical procedure if you need it done. Accidents happen and others are blessed with illnesses that take a lot of money and time to cure. If I'm in that situation I would rather be paying that $600/month of insurance and having a little more seat time on my sled before I get a new one than losing everything at one time because of huge medical bills. I guess I'm just a little different than you, I use the common sense approach to living my life.

you sound like a guy that likes to live life pedal to the metal but if you can't even move or sled in high elevation (the stuff thats really fun) then that really hinders your approach? JUST DO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING AND SEE A DOCTOR/SPECIALIST and why no job that also hinders the pedal to the metal approach

Jesus Christ, what the hell for?

I was living in alaska and bored, so i went for a bike ride. I used to be a pretty hardcore mtn biker. Now i am just into it.

on a serious note, if you do come down with something real serious you will be broke quicker than buying insurance. My dads chemo bill is $25,000 per chemo treatment. thank god for insurance. Insurance is real cheap when you look at the real cost.

high time is prolly just yankin our chain. Freeze a lung, come on, no insurance, maybe, can't run 100 feet, ok! All that being said you won't get some peeps to run a hundy unless someone yells free beer on a hot september day in a crowded minnesota pasture! (hay days)

On the other hand, lung cancer can knock your dick in the dirt..., which I hope you don't have, so because most of us care, brother snowester, if you arn't joking ..., GO TO THE DOCTOR!:face-icon-small-win

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the concern. I've been arround a lot of years , my job...........making you wipersnappers earn it!

I don't know your age High Time, but I'm going on 46 and began conditioning for a Ruby Mountain bowhunt 6 weeks ago. I could not run a hundred yards either. Six weeks later I'm finally making it around the block and I thought I was in pretty fair shape, good lord, was I wrong. I don't drink, smoke, pop pills or have any other bad habits. Answering a cell phone and driving from job to job all year can make a guy one rotten SOB. I'm with you on the doc visits, I had a nagging cough that had gone on four 3 months, I was told I had heartburn not a cough. I asked him if he was drunk and left the office. The cough eventually went away. My wallet is now $140.00 short.

High Time- if you can hold on until Febuary you'll be able to go to the doctor for free! Well, not free.....the rest of us will have to pay for you. I don't like the idea, but evidently about 52% of the US population is OK with it.

I'm 59, but I ride with twenty to mid. forties riders.

I drink a bit and party with them too. That coughing biz is very simular to what I've had too.
Today or as of the last few days , I feel better. I'm not ready to run out and spent a lot of money on a new mod. sled until I know what I can take though.
I usally ride hard and in the last few years I've busted up a disc in my back. dislocated a shoulder and severly sprained my foot. I quit cornace dropping, but I like the power and use it often. Long tail walks, climbs and sidhilling. If I have to folow the pack it will bother me a lot.
I think what you said about excersize makes a lot of sense. On those days I feel better , it's time to push it.

My brother thought he froze a lung but turned out to be a bad resperatory intection which he gave to me....thanks bro!
Antibiotics did the trick, but couldnt shake it otherwise.
It was one nasty bug, felt like I couldnt catch a good breath of air.
Needed some air box venting for sure!
Hope it works out for you.

In a time when X-rays cost a grand and MRI's three times that. not counting doc visits. I'll just die.

Damn Owne, as an x-ray tech i gotta say a grand is a bit much for an x-ray. With all your on going troubles, a decent Doc will order and chest film and go from there. Your up in Duluth area, go to St Lukes or St Marys, or go into the Duluth Family Practice Clinic(kinda in the hood) but my sister works there and the Drs are straight shooters...also one of the head Drs(teaching place) has been our family Dr for years and is good stuff.

Or you could come on down to the WFMC(world famous mayo clinic) and visit good old xrated and get a chest film taken...course you'd still have to see a Dr. But I will give ya some cold beers if you make the trip.

Owen,

I don't see a problem here as long as there is some medicine available after a ride. Alcohol solves a lot of problems even if it's often a temporay solution. You aren't old yet maybe the right word is "experienced". I'd go for the mod sled it'll help even the odds with the youngsters, it's only fair.
